Correct & Reteach: Inform student that they may not use cell phones during school hours. Remind them that they may use the office/classroom phone in the case of an emergency.
Restorative Tasks: 1-on-1 mediation, encourage the use of "I" statements. Understand students purpose behind cell phone usage.
Replacement Behavior: 1. Allow student to place phone on desk, upside down or inside a container. Phone must be on silent or "do not disturb."
2. Ask student to remove phone from pocket and put into backpack in the morning
Consequences
1st offense: Redirection and 1-on-1 mediation
2nd offense: 1-on-1 mediation and student will have to turn phone into staff member
3rd offense: Staff member turns phone into office, student may pick up at end of day

4th offense: Phone is confiscated and parent must pick up

Replacement Behavior: Share with student what kind of are OK to say online and which are not. Help student build empathy for others and learn strategies to use when confronted with cyberbullying.

2nd offense: Show student "Power of Words" video, further explain real word consequences of behaviors and affects on others
3rd offense: Student will loose technology privileges for time period agreed upon between teacher, principal and student
