Correct & Reteach: Remind student of appropriate classroom behavior and expectations. Have student state in a positive way what student can do next time.
Restorative Tasks: Use affective statements and restorative questions to help student acknowledge and understand impact of behavior. Student apology to teacher and class. If behavior is directed at another student, do 1-on-1 mediation.
Replacement Behavior: Allow student to model correct behavior (i.e. raise hand) and/or be discussion leader or classroom helper. Teach student positive coping skills, provide opportunities for breaks and use of positive coping skills.
Consequences
1st offense: Ignore behavior (if safe to do so) or provide immediate redirection.
2nd offense: Model correct behavior, praise other students showing correct behavior.
3rd offense: Individual meeting with student, discuss problem, contact parent.
Follow up (if needed)
4th offense: Continue contact with parent, conference with SSW and Admin.
