School Counseling Program Mission StatementThe mission of the Lavallette Elementary School Counseling program is to provide a comprehensive developmental counseling program that addresses the academic, career, and personal/social development of all students. All school counselors will follow the ASCA National Model and will partner with other educators and community members to ensure that all students have access to and are prepared to become productive members of society through the development of their potential growth. Statement of PhilosophyThe philosophy of the Developmental School Counseling Program for Lavallette Elementary is to maximize the potential of all students through a preventative and developmental approach based on each individual’s needs. Abide by and align with the professional ethics of guidance and counseling advocated by the New Jersey School Counselor Association and American School Counselor Association National Standards Our program of services is sensitive to the needs of all students’ multicultural background, ethnicity, special needs and sexual identities Participate in professional development and competency renewal programs essential to maintaining a quality school counseling program School Counselor Role StatementSchool counselors are professional school advocates who provide supportive services for all students to maximize the student’s academic, social/personal and career achievements based on the ASCA national standards. In collaboration with other educators, parents, guardians and the local community, school counselors will facilitate the program to ensure all students have access and are prepared to be productive individuals in our society as a whole.
