Spring Into Action Fundraiser Event

April 15th-19th, 2019

Spring into action during Spring Break! Riverside Drive Charter School PTA needs your support to continue funding our student’s enrichment programs and campus activities including Drama Program, School Garden, Art Committee, Safety Committee, Garden, Teacher Appreciation, Ice Cream Socials and Movie Nights. The PTA’s number one priority is to raise as much money as possible to secure funding for our student’s future. The success of this fundraiser drives what programs will be available next school year.

We challenge you to have fun and get active during this Spring Break, April 15th-19th, 2019. Choose a fun activity like hop on one foot or jump rope for 20 minutes, walk your dog every evening, ride your scooter or bike every morning for 1/2 hour. The possibilities are endless! Of course, participation is OPTIONAL.

Go to www.getmovinfundraising.com to create your child’s FREE fundraising page. See attached packet for instructions.

Welcome

The Riverside Drive Charter School PTA is a volunteer organization made up of a strong base of Parents, Teachers, Administrators, and Community Members who come together to support our students' learning and growth here at RDCS.

All RDCS family members are encouraged to join the PTA. Membership is $9 and provides you with the opportunity to vote on PTA activities throughout the school year as well as the selection of leadership.

Meetings are held on Thursdays at 6:30 pm in the Auditorium. During the meetings, members and nonmembers find out how they can get involved at Riverside Drive Charter School through PTA events and activities. Meetings are a great way to learn about and participate in the PTA’s support efforts.

August 30, November 1, January 10, March 14, and May 10

2018-19 PTA Board

President - Ronya Waters I am the mom of 3 kids (a 4th grader and 1st grade twins) at Riverside Drive. My professional life has been dedicated to fundraising for various non-profits and I have been actively involved in the school over the past few years including sitting on school committees, volunteering, fundraising and being a room parent. I truly love our school and our community! As PTA President, I hope to use my extensive experience help RDCS to continue to maintain and grow our slate of enrichment programs for the kids/help achieve charter goals related to STArt, those that set RDCS apart. I also hope to nurture an environment where everyone feels engaged and involved - and have some fun in the process!

Vice President - James Becher The reason I wanted to be involved in the PTA is that I feel parent involvement in our children’s education is one of the key important components of their education and ultimate success in life. I also consider volunteering to be an important responsibility and a good way to be a positive role model for our children and school community.

Treasurer - Alan MacLeod I am the father of Isabelle MacLeod (Mrs. Velasquez' class in First Grade). I work for Universal Studios; where I lead the Technology team for Universal Brand Development; I am a CPA from my earlier career as an auditor. I volunteered for the PTA because I feel strongly that engaged parents are the key to providing our children a whole education - augmenting the core curriculum with a broad spectrum of enrichment experiences.

Secretary - Hilda Petrushkin I am the mom of 2nd grade twins at Riverside Drive. I have been involved in the school since my children were in the first Transitional Kindergarten class here at Riverside and I am so excited to be a part of our PTA! My work as a judicial law clerk to a federal judge has provided me with the organizational and multi-tasking skills required to be effective as your PTA Secretary. I look forward to serving the teachers, parents, and students of Riverside, and I hope that our work with the PTA fosters a community of learning, support, and involvement for all members of the RDCS community!

Historian - Erica Medine Hi everyone! I am so excited to be a part of our Riverside Drive Charter PTA! I work in education and I know how important it is for parents and the community to be involved in their child’s school. Im looking forward to meeting everyone and participating in some great events at our school :)

Auditor - Pamela Pernin I am thrilled to be serving as auditor on the Riverside Drive PTA Board. I am delighted to be part of such a wonderful community and to be able to contribute in a meaningful way. I am excited to work with a passionate team of PTA volunteers, families and school staff to ensure Riverside Drive reaches its greatest potential. My family has lived in the community for over 15 years and this is our 7th year at Riverside Drive. We have a son in 3rd grade and a daughter in Middle School. “No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted” - Aesop

Parliamentarian - Lara Larkin's a mother of two: a son in first grade and a daughter in preschool. In the last two years, she's volunteered in various capacities at RDCS, from room parent to running the cinema portion of the Arts Committee. She works at Universal Pictures and is also a working writer. She's grateful to serve on the PTA because she's intent on building a great community and school for her children.
