Thank you for taking the time to view my resource page. For those visitors who are not yet acquainted with me, I am Ms. Ortiz, the Psychiatric Social Worker (PSW) assigned to Woodland Hills Elementary Charter for Enriched Studies for the 2024 - 2025 academic year.
I am very excited to be acquainted with and integrate into the WHECES school community and looking forward to meeting all of you!
As a school-based social worker, My goal is to help alleviate social-emotional barriers to learning by providing mental health and social support services. For your students, this might include brief individual counseling, group counseling, classroom presentations on mental health and social emotional related topics, & school wide campaigns.
The purpose of these services is to promote the achievement of greater overall success in students educational, social, and emotional growth.
In addition, I work collaboratively in my role with community agencies where I can assist with referrals for various needs, am a member of the school site crisis team, conduct parent workshops, and more!
As we continue to navigate through challenges in our current social climate and life adjustments following the global pandemic, It is plausible to feel overwhelmed. Should your student or family be in need of resources, or should you feel your student might benefit from speaking with someone, please do not hesitate to reach out. You don't have to navigate it alone!
You may also reach the 24-hour ACCESS line of the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health (LACDMH) at (800) 854 - 7771.
