A Resource Specialist Program (RSP) is a special education service that provides academic assistance to eligible students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). This instructional service is provided for students with exceptional needs who are in a general education setting. Respource Specialist programs utilize a combination of push-in and pull-out services, depending upon the needs of each student. Students receiving Resource services are assigned to their general education classroom for a majority of the school day and receive services from the Resource Specialist Staff either directly in a collaborative basis with the general education classroom teacher or in the Resource Room.

The purpose of the resource program is to increase access to the general education curriculum. This is typically done by remediating gaps in foundational reading, writing, and/or math skills, assisting students in accessing the lessons in their general education class, and assisting teachers with the implementing classroom accommodations.
