March Scholarships
The Council of Black Administrators (COBA) is an officially recognized organization of the Los Angeles Unified School District. One of the chief goals is to enhance educational opportunities for students of the District. COBA will award $2,000 scholarships to qualified black students planning to attend a four-year college or university. This is a one-time award. Established to provide financial assistance for college-bound students pursuing a degree in Public Affairs/Administration or Political Science & Government who have endured hardship and/or overcome obstacles to achieve their goal. Established by the the Benny Goodman Foundation, for students who have a genuine passion for music, and who use their musical gifts and talents to enrich and inspire the lives of others. High school seniors who are US citizens or permanent residents and plan to enroll in an accredited post-secondary institution or continuous education program during the 2023-2024 academic year are eligible. Applicants must demonstrate leadership skills and moral character, as well as submit a short video describing how the scholarship will assist them in achieving their goal. The Bridging the Dream Scholarship Program is part of The Sallie Mae Fund’s $3 million commitment to help students from all backgrounds pursue higher education. The Los Angeles Alumnae chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority is providing scholarships to African American high school students who are seeking higher education from an accredited four-year university. Students may apply in either the FINANCIAL NEED or MERIT BASED category. There are different eligibility requirements for each category. Each year, AALA provides scholarships for LAUSD students. The application period is from January to March. Copies of the application are emailed to school site administrators, principals, assistant principals, and college counselors.
