Our Wonderful Inquiry Work
Julia Donaldson
We are thrilled to announce that Julia Donaldson's class has successfully written a great story based on The Little Gardener. The children have had so much enthusiasm in writing the story and have been eager to share what they have written.
Moreover, the children have been on bug hunts and bird spotting activities, giving an excellent opportunity to explore and understand different creatures, their habitats and behaviours.
In addition, as part of their learning, the children have also written instructions for planting a seed and watering a plant which have been impressive in their precision and thoroughness. The children now have practical instructions which will help them cultivate healthy habits and develop their love for nature

Year 5 have had a great start to the term! After an amazing fundraising day where the children raised £480, we have jumped straight into our next area of learning which is looking at how building aesthetics have changed over time, with a particular focus on Rochester Bridge! So far we have learnt about the history of Rochester Bridge and how it was first built during Roman times! We have now begun to look at the different materials used to build bridges and started to compare the properties of different materials as we will eventually be creating our own bridges and testing the strength of them. As a fun activity, we made human bridges with our partners!

Year 6 Exhibition
This week, we were pleased to welcome visitors to our Year 6 PYP Exhibition. The PYP exhibition is an event where students are given the opportunity to share their understanding of a real-life issue or topic they've covered. It's a great way to help pupils reflect on all their learning while developing skills of presentation and assessment. The children have explored, documented, and shared their understanding of an issue or opportunity of personal significance. As well as parents and carers coming along to see the work, children from other classes came along and were full of questions! Thank to the children for all their hard work and to our parents and carers for coming along to support.
Year 6 Residential
This week 21 Year 6s went on their residential to Lower Grange Farm in Maidstone. They had a fantastic time, taking part in many activities that they haven’t tried before! Some of their favourite activities included: mop football, clay laser gun shooting and climbing. The children shared teepees, had a campfire and had a cinema evening. They had a great few days making memories and having lots of fun. We have taken lots of pictures and will share them with parents shortly.
PANDA Anti-Racism Team
Panda Anti-Racism Team (PART) are coming in to deliver a workshop with the year 5 and 6 children on Thursday 29th June 2023 at 1.15pm, we would also like to invite parents/carers to attend. Please sign up to attend through your MCAS app so that we know how many parents and carers will be attending with their children. We will provide some light refreshments of biscuits and cakes.
The sessions are tailored for different age groups and will give the young people a chance to talk openly and sensitively about the diverse world we live in.
They will take part in activities that will support their understanding and give them the tools to be anti-racist; they will have discussions and take part in learning games that will help them to understand the experiences of others, apply more empathetic and thoughtful thinking, grow in racial literacy and understand the impacts of discrimination and racism. We will discuss how together we can take steps in our day to day lives to counteract discrimination and end racism on a wider scale. They will also work through the concepts of allyship and upstander intervention, supported by their school staff to enable an anti-racist journey.
The session will be around 90 minutes long and we encourage students and parents/carers to actively take part; following the session the students will go back to their class to continue their learning with their teachers whilst the parents/adults will have a further 30 minutes session - Let’s Talk about Race. This time will allow parents/carers to ask any further questions, improve their racial literacy and competency and facilitate an informed conversation about race and racism without the students present.
Working collaboratively with young people, parents, teachers and professionals to make a difference to people’s lives PART supports equality, embraces inclusion and educates others to do the same.
