What is Pegasus?
Pegasus is Los Alamos High School's Art and Literary Magazine. Each year, the Pegasus team works on reviewing submissions from all LAHS students at each grade level. Once the publication has been completed, the magazine is sent to the National Council of Teachers of English: Recognizing Excellence in Art and Literary Magazines (REALM) Program.
What types of Submissions does Pegasus accept?
The publication accepts a variety of submissions (e.g., poetry, songs, short stories, limericks, haikus, photographs, digital art, paintings, drawings, even animations and videos). Students are required to submit their own work (i.e., no AI, and no plagiarism). The students' submissions must include their real name., not a pseudonym.
How does the Pegasus staff decide on what students' works are accepted?
Throughout the school year, submissions are collected and reviewed by the Pegasus team. Each submission is voted upon based on quality, potential, relevance, and appropriateness. Please note that there is a three page limit for short story entries; however, there is no limit on how many submissions a student is allowed to submit for the school year.
Pegasus shows us that even in our deepest wounds lies the seed of transcendence.
The very trials that seem to bind us can become the wings that carry us beyond.
True freedom does not come from running away,
but from rising above.

We are all the authors of our own stories, the architects of our own destinies.
