Students who are enrolled in Marketing and Business Ownership in the Fall and will complete Marketing and Business Ownership in the Spring -- Business credit at UNM-LA
Students who are enrolled in Marketing, Management & Legal Environment of Business in the Fall and will complete Marketing, Management & Legal Environment of Business in the Spring -- Business credit at UNM-LA
Students who have completed Desktop Publishing with a C or better and will complete Information Management with a C or better in the Spring -- Computer credit at UNM-LA (counts toward a certificate in marketing)
Students who have completed Robotics 1 with a C or better and complete Robotics 2 with a C or better in the Spring -- Electronics credit at UNM-LA (counts toward a certificate in electro- mechanical technologies)
Students who are enrolled in Humanities in the Fall and will complete Humanities in the Spring -- Philosophy credit at UNM-LA (Formerly ENGL 150)
Eligible students may also earn dual credit by enrolling for elective courses that are offered at the UNM-LA campus with approval.
Visit with your counselor at LAHS to determine those courses at UNM-LA that will meet your high school requirements and to discuss deadlines, which are typically earlier than regular registration at UNM-LA. LAHS approval is required before registering for the course. Dual credit information sessions are required meetings that must be attended in order to participate in dual credit.
Get a copy of your LAHS transcript from the registrar. Also get a copy of the dual credit application packet from your LAHS counselor or from the Registration Desk in Building #1 at UNM-LA. You may also download a copy of the application packet from the UNM-LA website.
Submit completed application with your transcript to:Dual Credit Coordinator, Building 1, Room 106, UNM-LA.
Cost: All tuition costs are covered by UNM-LA. All book costs are covered by Los Alamos Public Schools. Students are responsible for course-specific fees.
Los Alamos Early College & Career Academy (LAECCA) supports students in early access to post-secondary training allowing them to graduate from high school with not only a diploma but also substantial college credentials and credits. The goal of LAECCA is to create a seamless experience for student between high school and their post-secondary goals by providing a focus on a future career. It is perfect for students who have the potential and desire to do college coursework earning substantial credits towards technical certifications before high school graduation. LAECCA emphasizes four major areas of post-secondary study:
• Electro-mechanical technologies
• Robotics
• Marketing with an Emphasis in Digital Art
• Emergency Medicine
The University of New Mexico-Los Alamos is a valued partner in the development and implementation of this initiative. Students interested in LAECCA will be identified in their particular pathway of interest beginning course:
If you are interested in electro-mechanical technologies or robotics, you should select Robotics 1 & 2 next year.
If you are interested in business, you should select Desktop Publishing and Information Management.
If you are interested in the emergency medicine pathway, you should select Introduction to Medical Terminology.
Taking these courses in 9th grade will put you on- track to earning a college certificate and allowing for additional dual-credit opportunities beyond your freshman year.
