1) Complete Course Selection WS at home. This is only a resource to help you prepare for Course Selection. You do not need to turn it in.
2) Make Course Requests in PowerSchool (see below for more details). Save as a pdf. You will upload this pdf to Google Classroom.
3) Complete Next Step Plan. Save as a pdf. You will upload this pdf to Google Classroom.
4) Meet with your Advisor at scheduled time.
NOTE: Students have access to the apps Kami or Lumin on their Chromebooks. Both apps will allow students to modify and fill in the pdf documents.

It is important to keep in mind that you are making course requests, not creating an actual schedule. You will not receive a class schedule until registration in August prior to the start of school. However, the courses you select at this time, including your alternate selections, are key to the development of the Master Schedule and in determining whether or not a course is offered as well as the number of sections needed and class sizes. Please review the 2022-2023 Course Catalog and make your selections carefully and thoughtfully.
1. Carefully review the graduation requirements listed on Los Alamos High School Graduation Requirements (LAHS Progress to Graduation), keeping in mind what is needed to graduate, such as four credits of math. Also consider additional college admission requirements such as three credits of foreign language or other requirements. For example, UC schools require a full credit of a continuous fine art class, such as Dance 1 and 2 or Fine Arts 1 and 2. Do not wait until your last semester of high school to come to this realization.
2. Complete the Course Selection Worksheet (Course Selection WS). List your required classes first. Then choose your electives, and finally, choose your alternatives. Make sure your alternate course selections are different from your required and elective course choices, and select alternates that you would like to take if your other choices are unavailable.

3. Discuss your completed Course Selection Worksheet and your Next Step Plan with your parents/guardians.
4. Sign in to PowerSchool. Click on the Class Registration icon, and follow the instructions. If you have problems registering online, don’t panic. For help with PowerSchool, call the PowerSchool Data Tech at 663-2407 or email Stephanie Fabry.
5. Save a copy of your Course Selection Confirmation Sheet from PowerSchool. This pdf confirmation sheet from PowerSchool must be uploaded into the Advisor’s Google classroom to be complete.
6. Complete your Next Step Plan and upload to your advisor's google classroom. Meet with your advisor during your scheduled appointment to review your course selections and Next Step Plans. Please make every effort possible to keep your appointment with your advisor. The fillable Next Step Plan is not complete until you, your parent(s) and your advisor or counselor have typed your names and uploaded it into the Advisor's Google classroom.
Online course selection will be available from February 2, 2022 to February 9, 2022. Recommendations are required when course prerequisites are not met. Teacher recommendations will be noted in your PowerSchool account.
