Get Ready for the Eclipse

"Get Ready for the Eclipse" was an in-person presentation at Catlin Park in Ottawa with NASA Solar System Ambassadors Joel Knapper and Scott Pellican.  They discussed the two upcoming eclipses, safety, and other NASA missions about the Sun. The public had the chance to view sunspots using the Library Orion telescopes and binoculars, and Library staff distributed eclipse glasses and information.

Do-It-Yourself Eclipse Craft for Kids

With this fun and simple craft, your child can fashion a mask that snugly holds Eclipse Glasses. This can provide a sturdier fit for the "one size fits all" eclipse glasses and less frustration in keeping the glasses in place. We chose to make a raccoon style, but there are many options -- a bunny, fox, panda, superhero, star, the Sun, or a space visitor from another galaxy! Your imagination is the limit!
