Advanced Waterbotics

Who: The advanced WaterBotics program is for Middle and High School students who are interested in learning more about robotics.

What: In the WaterBotics program, students are tasked with the design, construction, and programming of an underwater robot, or remotely operated vehicle. Students use the LEGO MINDSTORMS kit and other LEGO materials to build their creations. In doing so, they will learn the engineering design process, and they will discover the large variety of engineering careers that are possible.

Because students are not required to have any experience with robotics, programming, or even LEGO, the project unfolds in phases, giving them time to absorb the many new ideas and techniques. This is presented to students as a series of missions that gradually increase in difficulty and ultimately lead to a complete robot.

WaterBotics is a problem-based learning curriculum that has been used in a wide variety of science, technology, pre-engineering, and other classroom settings
