The printer can do black-and-white or color. It cannot print double-sided. There are three main ways to print:
1) Use one of our public computers
This is the most fool-proof method. Use a library card or guest pass every time the computer prompts you to log in.
This method is good for: printing any kind of file or directly from a web page, printing multiple copies, printing only certain pages within a document.
Downside: patron may need to log into their email, Google Drive, etc., and they may not remember their password.
2) Upload a file from your laptop/phone/device
Visit lapl.org/print. Click the blue button "Print to All Locations." Select the first option, "Self Service Printing for Library Card or Guest Pass Holders." Follow the rest of the prompts to upload the file(s). Scan the library card or guest pass at the Print Station to release the print job.
This method is good for: using your own device, printing multiple copies of a document, printing only certain pages within a document.
Downside: more steps to navigate.
3) Email a file as an attachment
Must be a file that can be attached to an email. Send the email with attachment to one of the following email addresses: bw-lapl@eprintitsaas.com (for black-and-white prints) or color-lapl@eprintitsaas.com (for color prints). Wait for a confirmation email in return, which contains an 8-digit release code. Give that code to the librarian to release.
This method is good for: using your own device, easily forwarding an email with an attachment (e.g., shipping label, boarding pass).
Downside: cannot print multiple copies of a document, cannot print only certain pages within a document.
If this method doesn't work, try forwarding the attachment to studio@lapl.org, and the librarian can manually print it from a staff computer.
The scanner offers many functions, including printing, sending a digital copy via email, and saving onto a USB drive.
Printing from the scanner pulls from the same daily limit of 25 pages in black and white or 12 pages in color.
We recommend patrons use the scanner for copies, rather than the photocopier, because they can get free prints with the scanner and the scanner is able to do color copies.
The photocopier charges $0.25 per page and can only do black-and-white copies.
If a patron puts in a coin and it immediately falls through to the change return, try a dollar bill instead.
