Principal's Message:

Another brilliant week has gone by at Langley Park Primary Academy.

At the beginning of the week, we sent a group of Year 6 children to our first Maidstone Cluster Rounders Tournament. It should not come as a surprise that they represented the academy impeccably well and came second out of five schools! We are very proud of their achievement.

Year 1 pupils also went on a local walk around the estate. You may have seen them in their high vis vests, accompanied by Willow. The children visited Costa and even had babycino drinks.

We have ended the week with our Macmillan Coffee Morning. Thank you to the families who joined in the event by coming along, baking cakes and donating money. It's for such a good cause and it is wonderful that we've been able to contribute as a community. I am pleased to advise that we have raised £124.50 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

This week, I will keep my message short as there is lots of other information below from the team for you to read.

Have a great weekend!

Miss Brading

Office Reminders:

Harvest

A reminder that donations for Harvest should be brought into the academy by the morning of Wednesday 4th October 2023 in time for our special Harvest Assembly. All donations will be passed to Maidstone Day Centre, who operate a food bank as well as work to support people in the local area who are experiencing housing difficulties and/or are in need of mental health support.

Lost Property

An astonishing amount of lost property is found around the academy at the end of each day. Named belongings are returned to your child or to their classroom, however much of what is left behind is unnamed and this it is therefore challenging to reunite items with their owner. The academy office maintains a list of unnamed lost property in My Child at School/Important Documents. This is updated daily and items added/removed where relevant. Please do check this if your child has misplaced any of their clothing and/or personal belongings.

The accumulation of vast amounts of unnamed lost property is, however, easily avoided by writing/sewing/sticking your child's name onto the label of any clothing or on the outside of lunch boxes. Even your child's initials will help us to identify what items belong to which child so that items of lost property can be returned to their correct owner.

Unnamed lost property that is not claimed within one week of it being found and held by the academy is donated to charity via the clothing container in the carpark area. This is due to the amount of space that it takes up; we simply cannot store and keep it all for long periods of time.

Please help us to reduce the amount of lost property around the academy by naming all personal belongings clearly.

Donation Sought:

The Year 1 team would like to ask if anyone has a large, clean tarpaulin that is no longer needed as staff would like to put this to use in the outside classroom areas. If you are able to help with this, please let the academy office know or speak to Mrs Dunn and/or Miss Russell. Thank you in advance for anything you are able to offer by way of a donation.

Events:

You may be interested in the upcoming LitFest, Maidstone's first ever literacy festival which promises something for everyone, with an array of events and appearances taking place in the heart of Maidstone town centre in October. There is a LitFest event for preschool aged children, to be held during the week, and a weekend event for children of all ages as per the posters shown below. Please consider taking your children along to these free educational and fun events.

Contacting the class teachers:

If you have concerns that you would like to raise with the academy, please do so via the office email address which is contactus@langleyparkprimaryacademy.org.uk. Upon receipt, your email will be directed to the relevant member(s) of staff.

We respectfully ask that you address any concerns or issues with your child's class teacher in the first instance. If it remains unresolved then your concern will then be escalated to Mrs Neame, Vice Principal. In the unlikely event that it continues to remain unresolved, it will be escalated to Miss Brading at that point.

We are also aware that some parents continue to email staff directly. In the event that this happens, staff have been asked to forward your email to the aforementioned email address to resume communication via the correct channels.
