Principal's Message

Welcome to the first issue of Term 2 of the Langley Park newsletter. It has been a busy start to Term 2 with a number of events already taking place this week.

We have begun our open tours for prospective parents for our reception cohort next academic year. They have been giving overwhelming feedback about the positive school climate both in the learning environments and from all of the adults and pupils they saw and met. It is really exciting to begin the journey of welcoming even more wonderful families to our community.

We have also had our PYP Provocation open mornings organised by our PYP Coordinators; Mrs Fernandes and Miss Easdown. A huge amount of effort went in to organising these to ensure they were purposeful, engaging and therefore successful. It was so wonderful to be able to have parents coming in to the school to share in such excellent learning experiences with their children. Thank you to Mrs Fernandes and Miss Easdown for making this possible.

On Thursday 11th November, we joined the nation in marking Remembrance Day with a short assembly and 2 minute silence at 11am. To also mark the day, those who belong to clubs like Beavers, Cubs, Rainbows and Brownies wore their uniform in to school. They certainly wore it with pride. Remembrance was also the theme of our assembly this week and we made links with the Learner Profile Attributes of being caring, reflective and principled. The assembly has been shared on your child's Google Classroom as they can then have the opportunity to continue to engage with it by adding comments in the Google Stream.

Next week we will be recognising Anti-Bullying Week by wearing something blue on Monday 15th November and on Friday 19th November, we will be wearing something spotty to recognise Children in Need. We will be also welcoming a paralympian to the academy on this date for the children to meet and find out about.

We haven't had much feedback in regards to the interest of starting up a Parents Forum so if you do have a perspective on this, please do let us know. We would like it to be useful to our community in being able to positively support the school.

And finally, we are aware that our wonderful children also do lots of wonderful things beyond school. If you have any good news stories or significant achievements that your children have obtained please do share this with us because we would love to share this with the wider community in our newsletter.

Have a lovely weekend!

Willow's Corner

What a very busy first week back at school we have had! I hope you all had a restful half term! This week I have been celebrating Diwali with Reception, I even tried to eat the traditional Indian sweets the children made! I just wanted to lick the milk! Next week it is Anti Bullying week. We always think about how we are developing the Learner Profile Attribute of being caring, but next week the theme of 'one kind word' lends itself to this. Have a look at how caring all members of our school community are to me! I give out lots of licks in return!
