Newsletter

8th December 2023

Principal's Message:

Welcome to this week's newsletter. You will have noticed that we didn't send one last week as we were all, understandably, tied up with the Christmas Fair.

The last two weeks have been extraordinarily busy with lots of Christmas orientated activities and learning.

The Christmas Fair was a huge success with a range of stalls and games available to our community. Santa's grotto was a big favourite which will come as no surprise, however the event was made extra special by our wonderful choir singing beautifully and Molly Marsh's dance troop putting on a number of incredible dances. Well done and thank you to Mrs Jack for making this possible; without her exquisite organisational skills, the fair certainly wouldn't have been as successful as it was. I would also like to extend my thanks to all of the staff and parents who volunteered to help thus ensuring the event ran smoothly. It was such a lovely community event.

EYFS and KS1 have been busy rehearsing their performances, with Nursery and Reception pupils having already performed their wonderful songs to parents this week. These were accompanied by Makaton signing, demonstrating how the festive fun can be inclusive of everyone. We are looking forward to parents being able to see the KS1 Christmas performance on Monday - you are all in for a real treat!

On Monday 4th December we took a selection of Year 6 children, who are part of our Young Voices choir, to sing to the residents at Ashley Gardens Care Centre. It is always so lovely to get out into the community - especially to share some Christmas cheer.

Next week, we will see even more Christmas fun with our visiting pantomime, Christmas dinner and staff pantomime.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Miss S Brading

Office Reminders:

Medication in School

A reminder that only prescribed medication can be brought into school and administered by academy staff. In addition to this, at this time of year in particular, we are seeing a rise in the number of children bringing throat sweets and hand creams into school to treat minor ailments and conditions. Please note that these items are not allowed in school at any time - you are welcome to attend the school to bring these in and oversee the use of them at break and/or lunchtimes but they must not be sent into classrooms with your child. We have a number of pupils and staff at the academy with a range of health conditions and allergies and these types of unprescribed medications pose a serious threat to them if brought into school. Thank you for working with us to ensure the safety of all who are on site.

Contacting the class teachers:

If you have concerns that you would like to raise with the academy, please do so via the office email address which is contactus@langleyparkprimaryacademy.org.uk. Upon receipt, your email will be directed to the relevant member(s) of staff.

We respectfully ask that you address any concerns or issues with your child's class teacher in the first instance. If it remains unresolved then your concern will then be escalated to Mrs Neame, Vice Principal. In the unlikely event that it continues to remain unresolved, it will be escalated to Miss Brading at that point.

We are also aware that some parents continue to email staff directly. In the event that this happens, staff have been asked to forward your email to the aforementioned email address to resume communication via the correct channels.

National Online Safety Guide

Young people are using smart devices from a much younger age than ever before and it is therefore essential that we talk to our children about how to use them safely. There are many positive benefits to the new technology at our disposal these days, but there are plenty of downsides too. As a parent/carer it is very important you understand any risks and how you can take steps to protect your family against them.

In the below guide you will find tips on a number of potential risks such as location settings, fake profiles and screen addiction.

A reminder that all of our parent/carer community are invited to create an account with National Online Safety, which provides a wide range of resources such as the guides we include in our newsletters, courses and video resources. If you have not already done so, please create your account by visiting the link below.
