Hello Tigers,
Good luck to both our soccer and track teams who will both head to their state events this week. Soccer is off to Green River, while track will head to Casper. Good luck to all, can’t wait to celebrate your success! Golf also had a successful completion to their spring season, which does not have a culminating event.
Well, Graduation week is here and we have a full lineup of activities. Wednesday we will honor our seniors and celebrate them with our annual Senior Breakfast and Awards. We will begin at 7am in the Bob Carey Memorial Fieldhouse with breakfast, followed by awards starting promptly at 7:30 am. Parents are encouraged to attend. The rest of the afternoon will be for seniors only, as we will host them at a BBQ at the Lion’s Shelter in City Park at 11am for a lunch, and then follow that with our Graduation Practice at 1pm back at the Bob Carey Memorial Fieldhouse. Thursday we will have our traditional graduation march through Gannett Peak Elementary beginning at 2:30pm (students should be there by 2:20 dressed and ready to go). Finally, we will celebrate the Class of 2023 at our Commencement on Sunday, May 21st at 1pm in the Bob Carey Memorial Fieldhouse. We are so proud of this class and can’t wait to let the festivities begin. Congratulations to all and especially to the parents/guardians of this great class!
For those not able to make it to our events we will be live streaming both the Awards Ceremony on Wednesday as well as Graduation on Sunday. County 10 will also be live streaming graduation as well, but here are our links so you have multiple options and there is no cost to stream these events but you will need to set up a free account if you do not already have an account with NFHS.

Referrals for all other students began last week and should be hitting full stride early this week. Please stay turned to emails and then at the end of the week your USPS Mail as we will mail home any referrals. If you are getting these End of the Year referrals please know they are critical for your student to complete ASAP as they will not be able to earn credit in a class until they have done so. Referral day is set for Friday, May 26th from 8am-12:30 and all students who have referrals left by this date are required to come. Referrals incomplete after this day will be required to return during our snow make-up day on Tuesday, May 30th and anything left after that will require students to attend Summer School to earn the credits they need for graduation. Summer School runs Monday through Thursday beginning June 5th and goes through June 22nd. Your help in ensuring your student is promptly addressing all referrals is greatly appreciated!
This past week LVHS took a “Dream Team” to the CWC Regional Math Contest where they competed with our local math students. We have not received our results yet but expect to have competed well and we are really proud of our students for getting involved in these activities and competing in these competitions!
This is my last official post for the 2022-2023 school year and I can’t thank you all enough for your support to help ensure high levels of learning for all of our students. LVHS is very lucky to have a very supportive community and we can’t wait to see what the 2023-24 school year brings. For those who are graduating their final Tiger, congratulations on a job well done and thank you for your years of hard work and support. You are greatly appreciated and should be proud of a job well done!
Hello Tigers,
Congratulations to our LVHS Boys and Girls Soccer teams who had an excellent finish to their home season this week at Senior Night where they crushed the Pinedale Wranglers and celebrated the hard work and dedication of our 12 seniors who took their last official strides on the LVHS Pitch! Both teams will play this week with hopes of capturing a bid to play at the WHSAA State Championship on graduation weekend.
We also celebrated our LVHS Track Seniors at the Shane Brock on Saturday where we had some incredible finishes that led the boys teams to a Shane Brock team championship and our ladies finished as runner-up. Special congratulations to Gage Gose whose excellent season has him ranked 4th in the nation among all high school athletes in the 300 hurdles and freshmen Adelyn Anderson is ranked 6th in the shot put among other freshman girls. The track team will head to Worland this weekend for regionals before competing at state in Casper also during graduation weekend.
On Monday LVHS hosted one of its favorite events of the year, celebrating 88 students heading off to college or trade school this week at our LVHS College Signing Day. We also honored two of our nation’s finest for joining the Air Force and Marine Corps. Our next senior event is the LVHS Senior Breakfast and Awards which will be on Wednesday, May 17 with breakfast starting at 7am and awards promptly at 7:30am. All seniors will gather afterwards at our Senior BBQ at the Lion’s Shelter at 11am and then we will have our Commencement Practice at 1pm in the Bob Carey Memorial Fieldhouse.
Speaking of seniors, this is their last official week of classes, they will have a normal schedule Mon-Friday but during their final classes on Friday they will also be expected to getting signed off by their teachers. This could include both materials and assignments still needed and students not signed off by teachers on Friday will need to be here first thing Monday (5/16) morning to resolve any outstanding items. All students will need to complete final checkout with Mrs. Stanbury on Monday (5/16) or Tuesday (5/17). We will hand out graduation regalia on Wednesday after the completion of the Commencement practice but only if student is completely checked out through Mrs. Stanbury.
Congratulations to all of our students who have completed their Advanced Placement Exams in Chemistry, Environment Science, Psychology, English Literature and Composition and U.S. History. Five tests are done but this week we will give another six in Calculus AB, Calculus BC, Computer Science Principles, English Language and Composition, Spanish Language and Culture, Biology, and the following week we will conclude testing with the Spanish Literature and Culture test. This year in total we will give 12 different tests and next year we are excited to expand our AP offerings with the addition of AP Pre-Calculus. We are so proud that already over 140 students have taken this test as an additional layer of college preparedness and their own choice to increase their rigor with these college level courses and exams.
We are getting to the final haul for all students and thus we will begin making end-of-the-semester referrals later this week and will send them out via mail on Wednesday, May 17th. If you see these referrals in your email/mail it means it is urgent that your student begins working immediately with their teacher to resolve this. Referral day will happen on Friday, May 26th and students without referrals will not need to attend. Any referrals that are unresolved by 12:30pm on Friday, will need to return on our Snow Make-up day, Tuesday, May 30th. After that day, unresolved referrals will become an Individual Learning Plan and will require students to attend Summer School to resolve them. Summer school at LVHS will run Monday through Thursday, from June 5th to June 22nd. Please contact your student's teacher with any questions about their grade or progress so that we can be sure to meet the needs of Every Student, Every Day.
Finally it is Teacher Appreciation Week and we are so grateful to our entire staff for all that they do for our students. I just know they would love to hear from our parents and students with little notes of gratitude and appreciation and so please reach out to those who have done so much for your students and let them know how much you appreciate them and all that they do. There really is no better way to appreciate a teacher, but with a heartfelt message of gratitude and appreciation, plus it will make you feel better you did as well!
I hope you all have a great week!
Hello Tigers,
I just wanted to start this week’s blog with a very heartfelt thank you to our entire community and especially the businesses who supported us this week by sacrificing their time and resources to help show our students potential careers in their interest area at our First Annual LVHS Career Fair. To say it was a giant success would be an understatement with over 50 businesses and agencies there with first-class displays, products, activities, and swag to get our students engaged and frankly excited about potential career opportunities. None of this would have been possible without the incredible work and organization from Mr. John Rounds, LVHS Business teacher, who introduced the plan early last fall and has worked tirelessly since to ensure its success. Thanks to him, the whole Career Technical Education department at LVHS and the entire staff who reached out to the businesses who made this event possible. Thank you and we look forward to doing it all again next year!
LVHS will be celebrating our students' post-secondary plans tomorrow (Monday) during National College Signing Day by hosting our own LVHS Signing Day students heading to the military, college, trade-school or other post-secondary training opportunities will be celebrated at the event. Parents and community members are invited to attend the event which begins at 1:30pm in the Bob Carey Memorial Fieldhouse.
Just a reminder that the Class of 2023 LVHS Commencement will be held on Sunday, May 21st at 1pm in the Bob Carey Memorial Fieldhouse. We look forward to celebrating this great class with the entire community!
Our LVHS Art Students returned from a great performance at the WHSAA State Art Symposium, to quickly transition their pieces into the LVHS Art Show at the Lander Art Center. The show had a reception and its grand opening on Monday but it will run for several weeks. Don’t miss out on this great opportunity to see the incredible creativity, skill, and pride that comes with our student’s work.
We got our ACT scores back on Friday afternoon and most students have also received their individual results directly from ACT. After a quick glance we are very excited to dig into the data to celebrate our students' success and continue to find ways to ensure the success of all students on this very difficult and rigorous college entrance exam. Early indication is this class scored very well, continuing a trend that we have seen from our students in recent years.
Monday our AP Chemistry class will kick off the Advanced Placement testing season and we are so excited to showcase the great work our students have been doing in these very challenging college-level courses. For several years LVHS has been expanding this program to ensure we are meeting the needs of Every student and they have excelled with these opportunities! This year we will be testing students in 12 different AP courses, and next year we will add an additional course with the brand new AP Pre-Calculus becoming available for our students. Below is the full schedule for all AP Tests, please be sure that students are on time and ready to go on these tests. Students who are done with all class work and successfully complete the test on the date listed will no longer be required to attend the class. Please know that LVHS will no longer take attendance for these students when completed, however if you require your student to stay we would be happy to do so, please just let us know by calling the LVHS office if this is your desire.

They will individually play for the Grandmas, uncles, cousins, friends, etc whose lives have been impacted by this terrible disease.
TOGETHER they will lace up their cleats and take the pitch in honor of Breanne Weston and Lorielle Morton and the amazing battle with breast cancer that they overcame and continue to fight.
Congratulations to our LVHS Track Teams who both earned the right to keep the coveted Traveling Trophy after a quick defeat of the Riverton Wolverines on our home track last Wednesday. The team then took a very limited representation to the Wyoming Track Classic which showcased the top 8 athletes in all-divisions in the state at Kelly Walsh HIgh School. LVHS took four athletes to this prestigious event where Gage Gose was able to capture a couple championships in the 400 meter (48.27) a new school record and a championship in the 110 meter hurdles. Freshman Adelyn Anderson took fourth and seventh in the discus and shot put respectively. Sophomore Ameya Eddy finished 5th in the 1600 meter. The track team had several other great personal bests and victories on Saturday at the Roy Peck in Riverton. This week LVHS will host the Shane Brock Invitational on Saturday, we hope to see you all out supporting this incredible group of student athletes!
Hello Tigers,
I want to start with a big congratulations to Gage Gose who spent last weekend in California competing in the select invitational track meet in Arvada where the young man from Lander, Wyoming won both of his events. His victories in both the 110 High Hurdles and the 300 Hurdles are impressive! Congratulations Gage and thank you for representing all of us across the country.
Gage was also named the 2023 Senior Royalty with his girlfriend Darian Bell named Queen at our Meta Gala Prom this past weekend at the Lander Community Center. Juniors Bennett Hutchinson and Josie Johnson were crowned royalty for the junior class and Evan Stephenson and Sandra St. Clair were best dressed, while Lily HItchcock and Derrick Gardiner were named “Life of the Party.” Prom was a great event and we thank our junior class and especially their sponsors, Mrs. Heather Babb and Mrs. Rachel Husbyn for their efforts in making this a great night for all who attended.
Our LVHS rendition of the Murder on the Orient Express concluded this Saturday after three spectacular performances by a wide variety of students. Special thanks to all the community members and sponsors who made this event possible and a very special level of gratitude to the one and only Mrs. Cami Kistemann who concluded her final production this weekend at LVHS. Several years ago, Mrs. Kistemann took on both the Spring Play and the Fall Musical and this entire community owes her a debt of gratitude because we have been entertained with some of the best performances possible while also allowing our students to display their talents and grow in so many ways. Thank you Mrs. Kistemann, we so appreciate your time and dedication to our students and this community and wish you nothing but the best in all your future endeavors!
Speaking of performances, LVHS invites all of you to the Spring Band Concert this Monday at 7pm in the LVHS Auditorium. Mr. Moline always has his students prepared and we look forward to a wide variety of music to end the 2023 school year for our LVHS Band Students.
The LVHS Chapter of the National Honor Society will induct its new members this Wednesday in the LVHS Auditorium. Invitations have been sent to all those selected for this incredible honor and we look forward to celebrating this momentous occasion with all of you!
Good luck to our LVHS Art students who will have their hard work and creativity on display this weekend in the Ford Wyoming Center as part of the Wyoming High School Activities Association State Art Symposium. Our FFA students will also be competing at their State Convention this week in Cheyenne. We look forward to celebrating both our art and FFA students' successes in next week’s post.
LVHS is excited to announce the re-introduction of an incredible opportunity for our students called Close-up! Close-Up is an organization that LVHS has worked with since 1978 that facilitates students from all over the nation traveling to Washington D.C. Students will get to learn alongside fellow high schoolers from around the country, tour National Monuments and museums, and engage in debate and workshops surrounding current issues. A sample schedule of the week can be accessed here. Students who are Juniors & Seniors in the 2023-2024 school year are eligible to go to Close-Up in Washington DC next spring. We will be hosting an informational meeting on April 20th at 5:30pm in my classroom, room 104. We will discuss sign-ups, the timeline of fundraising, cost, student expectations, and general questions.
Lander Valley High School will host its first annual Career Fair on Thursday, April 26th from 12:30-2:30 pm for all LVHS students. Over 50 businesses from various industry sectors will be present to provide information to LVHS students about their field of work, the skills desired by employers of their employees, and answer any questions students may have. LVHS students will also get the opportunity to hear from industry professional and TV personality, Kayleen McCabe. While this event is not open to the general public, there will be a FREE parent and student webinar on the night of Wednesday, April 25th hosted by Kayleen McCabe and Next Steps Webinars (5-6:30 pm Mountain). This webinar will host industry professionals from multiple states who can answer questions from parents and students concerning employment in various industries and business sectors. If you are interested in this webinar, please use this link to open the informational document and follow the steps to register.
Just a quick reminder that LVHS will be celebrating College Signing Day on May 1st. Mrs. Stanbury has been busy trying to get all of our Class of 2023 graduates post-secondary plans so that we can celebrate as many students as possible at this event. Senior parents please confirm with your student that they have properly communicated their plan with Mrs. Stanbury so we can include them in this great event.
Special congratulations go to Mr. Brenon Stauffenberg who was just named as one of just a few representatives to play in the select Wyoming vs. Montana all-star basketball game this summer. The Big Sky state has won the last 12 years this game has been played, but I believe Brenon and I have a great game plan to bring the “W” to the Cowboy State this year!
Special thank you to all of our parents and students who helped us make State Testing Day such a success. We had a 99% attendance rate on that date and are so grateful that we were able to test that many students to ensure that we do not need to continue to burden students and staff with make-up tests (WY-Topp) in the weeks to come. Special thanks to Mrs. Stacey Stanbury and Mrs. Shannon Waggoner who worked for months to ensure a very smooth and successful testing day for all of our students. Also special thanks to Chris Brown and his technology office who were here for several weeks prior to the test ensuring that all students' Chromebooks were ready for their specific test. We had no issues and can’t be more grateful for the proactive approach that certainly reduces stress of students and staff.
Hello Tigers,
I hope you are all having a great weekend with family and friends and enjoying the sunshining reflecting off all that lovely white stuff! The district has sent out communication already, however I wanted to remind all of our parents that Officer David Gomez will be at LVHS on Sunday night, April 9th for a community presentation. We do understand the difficulty of date and time, however these national speakers are very difficult to book and so in order to get this type of presentation this was the date that was available.
Officer Gomez will then be here for an all-school assembly on Monday, April 10th where he will present to our students about current drug trends and safety issues that our students are facing. Officer Gomez worked in Meridian, Idaho as a School Resource Officer for years where he connected with national expert Jermaine TallCop Galloway who has spoken to both parents and staff at LVHS on multiple occasions. We have worked with Tall Cop to secure Officer Gomez who will work directly with students during this 90 minute assembly. All students are expected to attend this presentation.
Please don’t forget this Tuesday, April 11th is our State-Testing Day. On this day all juniors are required to take the ACT Test, while all freshmen and sophomores are required to take the WY-TOPP Test. Both tests are required as part of the State of Wyoming Accountability and Assessment System. Because of ACT requirements, it is critical that all juniors are at school on that day no later than 7:40 am with a fully charged chrome book so that we can ensure we have all testing beginning on time. Freshmen and sophomores need to be there no later than 7:55am and also need their fully charged chromebooks. Breakfast, snacks and a pizza lunch will be available to all students. Students who are not referred for academic work will be dismissed following this testing. Students who have academic referrals will be required to stay to complete referrals and once completed they are free to leave. Referrals were finished on Thursday and hit the mail Thursday/Friday so you should have them no later than Monday. You also got an automatic email as did your student when the referral was completed. Please check your emails and have your students work with the teachers immediately to get those referrals taken care of. Seniors are only required to come if they have referrals. Seniors with referrals should be here no later than 9am to begin that work with their teachers. All students are able to leave once testing and referrals are completed.
Because of our assembly on Monday and State Testing Day on Tuesday, we will have some changes to our normal weekly schedule:

Hello Tigers,
This is the last week of the third quarter of the year and as we close out another grading period we ask all of our parents to work with students to help them finish assignments and earn proficiency on standards so that our teachers can ensure that every student is meeting every standard. You receive emails for both SRB (Skill issues) and also get a list of all missing assignments (generally WILL issues) If you are receiving those emails it is critical that your student takes care of those referrals. Your help in ensuring your student is meeting the requirements is so appreciated and please don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns as we work together to ensure every LVHS student graduates ready for College, Career, or Military!
Please don’t forget that next week, Tuesday, March 21st (4-7pm) and Wednesday, March 22nd (3:30-5:30) we will be hosting our Spring Parent Teacher Conferences in the LVHS Auxiliary Gym. As always students and parents are invited to meet with their teachers to ensure we are meeting the needs of Every Student, Every Day! If you want to see the passionate and authentic work of high school students as they explore World and American History through the lens of their own family history, you will not want to miss this event. This evening grows in popularity each year and honestly you will not have enough time to take in all of the greatness that our students produce at this incredible event. Please stop by the LVHS Auxiliary Gym on this night and take advantage of this amazing opportunity to explore family, local, national, and world history through the lens of family history.
Congratulations to the Speech and Debate team who had a great year and another great finish at their state competition this weekend. Congratulations to Claire Lane and Felicity Olsson who both qualified this weekend for Nationals in Public Forum Debate at the Wind River District Speech and Debate Tournament in Rock Springs. After dominating the field, they will head to Phoenix in June to compete on the National Stage.
Our boys and girls basketball team both lost in the first round of the 3A Western Regional in Mountain View this weekend but both rallied back to earn second round victories to keep them alive heading into day three. Unfortunately, both were unable to capture the berth to state and have concluded their seasons. We thank all the players and coaches for a great season and although it did not finish how we would like we are so proud of you!
Good Luck to Felicity Olsson and Shanti Junker who both earned the honor to compete at the State Science Fair this week. This is Felicity’s first competition, while Junker competed throughout middle school as well and now is integrating her new learning in Agriculture with a previous interest in the same area to research the difference in environmental impact of corn-fed vs. grass-fed cattle. We look forward to hearing about their success at this event.
Come one, come all to the LVHS Choir Spring (I think 🙂) Concert Tuesday night (3/7) at 7pm.
Speaking of this thing they call Spring, our Spring Sports will begin this week with soccer and track beginning their practices while golf starts after spring break.
Don’t forget to keep on the calendar April 11, which will be our State Testing Date. On this day all juniors are required to take the ACT Test, while all freshmen and sophomores are required to take the WAY-TOPP Test. Both are required as part of the State of Wyoming Accountability and Assessment System. Because of national requirements it is critical that all juniors are at school on that day no later than 7:40 am with a fully charged chrome book so that we can ensure we have all testing beginning on time. Freshmen and sophomores need to be there no later than 7:55am and also need their fully charged chromebooks. We will serve a pizza lunch to students and students who are not referred will be dismissed following this testing. Students who have academic referrals will be required to stay to complete referrals and once completed they are free to leave. Referrals will be emailed when completed during that week prior and students are encouraged to begin working with their teachers immediately to resolve those referrals.
Also do not forget that Spring Parent Teacher Conferences will be held Tuesday, March 21st 4-7pm, and Wednesday, March 22nd 3:30-5:30. Both nights we will be in the LVHS Auxiliary Gym. Hope to see you there!
The LVHS Social Studies Department cordially invites all community members to our annual Night at the Museum on Tuesday, March 14th from 5:30-7pm. If you want to see the passionate and authentic work of high school students as they explore World and American History through the lens of their own family history, you will not want to miss this event. This event grows in popularity each year and honestly you will not have enough time to take in all of the greatness that our students produce at this incredible event. Please stop by the LVHS Auxiliary Gym on this night and take advantage of this amazing opportunity to explore family, local, national, and world history through the lens of family history artifacts!
The LVHS PIE meeting was originally scheduled for this week, but due to conflicting schedules we will host that meeting next Tuesday, March 14th at 12pm and will be live in the Popo Agie Room or online through a link I will send out in next week's post.
Finally, senior parents, you should have received in the mail a letter from us with all the details about graduation and the events and festivities that lead up to this momentous occasion. If you do not receive that letter in the mail by early this week please let us know so we can be sure everyone is on the same page as the time is quickly approaching.
Have a great week everyone and GO TIGERS!
Hello Tigers,
The LVHS Girls Nordic Ski Team has made us WHSAA State Champions for the 2nd week in a row, claiming their 1st State Nordic Ski Championship since 2010 in Jackson this past Friday and Saturday. The victory for the Tigers ended an 11 year run for the Jackson Broncs Although no Tiger stood atop of the standings in either the classic or freestyle race, the top 20 was full of Tigers leading to the dominant team victory. Ameya Eddy led the Lady Tigers with third place finishes in both races, Annika Wilmot 6th/10th, Emily Anderson 7/11th, Divya Forbis 10/13th, Shayla Babbits 14th and Lizzie Whiting 20th tops out the State Champions top 20! Congratulations to the entire Lady Tiger Nordic Team for claiming the state championship! We will have our March of Champions at 1:40pm on Monday to celebrate this team! Parents are welcome to attend this quick celebration.
Congratulations also to the Boys team who finished as State Runner-up led by individual 10K Freestyle State Champion Bennett Hutchinson and teammates Otus Beason who was runner-up in the 5K Classic, and Diego Lobatos who finished 3rd in both races. Hutchinson also claimed top-ten honors in classic race while Owen Firth finished 17th. In the Freestyle Beason finished 13th and Firth rounded out the top 20 with a 20th place finish. Congratulations to our Boys Nordic team for a great finish and season.
Also earning an individual State Championship was Cody Cunningham who won the heavyweight crown on Saturday in Casper. Hunter Velarde joined him in the Championship round but had a close loss to take 2nd. Gabe Harris and Charles Snyder both ended in 5th, while Jordan Nielsen made LVHS history this weekend with her 4th place finish she becomes the first-ever Girls Wrestling Medal winner! Congratulations to the LVHS Wrestling team on a great season.
Good luck to our inaugural Indoor State Track team who will head to Gillette this weekend for their State Meet. The boys and girls basketball teams will head to Mountain View this week to play in the 3A Regional Basketball tournament in hopes of securing a berth to the State Tournament in Casper next week. The boys will open tournament play against Lovell at 8:30pm on Thursday while the girls will take on top-ranked Powell at 9am on Thursday. Good luck to both teams!
The LVHS Speech and Debate team is proud to host a meet this weekend here at LVHS but in order to do so needs help with judges. If you are interested in judging please go to the following link as last I knew they were still looking for help! LVHS 2023 Speech & Debate Judge Sign up
With the closing of many winter sports there will be meetings for springs sports this week and in the near future. Students who are interested should listen to the announcements or check in the office for more details. Right now it looks like Outdoor Track will meet after school on Tuesday and Girls Soccer will meet on Thursday this week.
I wanted to thank all of our parents and students for their flexibility last week. The inclement weather created quite an issue for both school and activities but with your help we did our best to ensure the best outcome for all of our students. Hopefully the worst of winter is now behind us, but with the way this year has been who knows. With both the makeup day for our last snow day happening on Monday and the snow day and subsequent late start along with the many activities who left early to ensure their competitions happened we had some tough attendance days. We ask all of your help in ensuring students are in school when possible so that we continue to ensure we are meeting the needs of Every Student, Every Day!
Hello TIgers,
Our LVHS Swim and Dive Team have done it again, winning their 27th consecutive WHSAA State Championship with a dominant 100 point win at the Campbell County Aquatics Center this weekend in Gillette. The Tigers were lead by the WHSAA 3A State Championship Athlete of the Meet and Year, Mr. Dylan Huelskamp who posted individual victories in the 200 meter freestyle and 100 meter butterfly and also helped the 200 Medley and 400 Freestyle Relays caputure gold medals. A fun fact, Huelskamp was born 8.5 years after the streak began for the Tigers in 1996, the same year this aging principal was graduating from high school! Benny Kulow who also was on both of the championship relays also captured his own gold medal in the 100 freestyle, which was probably the most dramatic finish of the day with Kulow coming from behind in the final moments to capture the victory! Another teammate on both of the relays captured their own title, with Finn Richards also winning the 200 Individual Medley. The final member of that relay team, Reed McFadden finished second to Richards in the Individual Medley. Congratulations to Coach Shawna Morgan who secured another state title for the TIgers and was named 3A State Coach of the Year for her accomplishments. LVHS will honor this team with our March of Champions tomorrow (MONDAY) at 1:40pm. Parents wishing to attend are welcome and will just check into the main office during this time.
Wrestling will head to state with 9 wrestlers, the two ladies will begin on Thursday, with the seven men beginning on Friday both at the Ford Wyoming Center in Casper. Senior heavyweight, Cody Cunningham, finished atop the 3A Regional with a top-seed heading into the state tournament.
Both the boys and girls basketball team finished up their home schedule for this season, the girls were able to beat both Worland and Hot Springs County, while the boys were able to celebrate Senior Night with a victory on Friday against Hot Springs before a tough loss to Worland on Saturday. They will hit the road for some final games before heading to Mountain View for their regional tournament the first weekend of March, playing for a spot in the state tournament the next weekend in Casper.
Good luck to our Nordic Ski team who will head to Jackson for their State Meet this weekend. This team was off this week and allowed us to celebrate their seniors during our basketball action this weekend.
Our Indoor Track team spent the weekend in Pocatello, ID for the Simplot Games where full results are not in but it was reported in WyoPreps that Gage Gose took second in the 60meter hurdles at the highly competitive meet. Their state meet is quickly approaching and will be in Gillette during the 1st week of March.
Congratulations to our Speech and Debate team who again performed well, this weekend in Greybull, Josie House placed 1st in Poetry and POI, took 3rd in Oratory and teamed with Myriah Haratyk to place 4th in Duo. Haratyk also placed 4th in Oratory. House won the Triple Threat Trophy and the team brought home the 2nd place trophy in Sweepstakes!
This week is FFA Week at LVHS, and this active group has a great lineup of fun activities for us to participate in.
Hello Tigers,
Well it has been an interesting attempt to get this post. The old google site that I was using is now outdated enough that it will no longer allow me to update or make new posts. Hence the new site and post link. Who know how this will evolve but since I found this out just yesterday, this weeks post will look like this and I will keep you updated of any changes or links to go to for future posts.
We were excited to Celebrate with our students on Friday all of the great accomplishments that have happened recently. The big headliner was the 32 seniors who have earned the LVHS Academic Letter six times. These students have maintained a 3.5 GPA while enrolled in a full academic schedule each and every semester since they began at LVHS way back in 2019. We also raffled off cellphones, computers earbuds and gaming stations to over 350 students who were entered due to their behavioral and/attendance success. Those winners can be found on the LVHS Twitter Feed.
I know it is hard to believe but we are already halfway through the 3rd quarter of school. This means that progress grades will be posted to ICampus on Wednesday. Please log in and check your students progress and let their teachers or myself know if there is anything we can do.
This year LVHS is proud to host the 1st Annual LVHS Career Fair on April 26, 2023 from 12:30 - 2:30 pm. All students at LVHS will take part in an after that will include an opportunity to meet with individuals/business from a wide array of industries throughout Wyoming to learn more about potential career fields. Additionally, the student body will get a chance to meet with and hear an amazing presentation by Kayleen McCabe an industry renowned speaker and TV Personality about potential career choices. You can learn more about Ms. McCabe and what she brings to the table from her website https://www.kayleenmccabe.com/about. We are still seeking more businesses/careers fields to be a part of our Career Fair. If you are interested in being a part of the 1st Annual LVHS Career fair and would like to have a booth to represent your career field and speak with HS Students about potential within your career field, reach out to our CTE Department Chair, John Rounds, at johnrounds@landerschools.org. We currently have 24 commitments but would ultimately like to double that to give our students the best opportunity possible.
The LVHS Lifetime Sports class has been taking students on a downhill ski trip to Pinedale each year for the past 6 years and this week we had another great day watching students ski and ride, many of them for the first time ever. A record 42 students attended this great opportunity and I always love to watch the growth mindset of our students as they take on a new challenge and usually master it with ease and confidence. Thanks for entrusting us with this opportunity for your son/daughter!
Congratulations to the LVHS Boys Basketball team who will maintain their top-five state ranking after defeating Mountain View in an overtime thriller on Friday and another top-five team in Pinedale on Saturday. A full slate of games will again be played at the Bob Carey Memorial Fieldhouse this weekend with senior nights for both teams as we close out our home games.
Wrestling took a rare weekend off, as they prepared for their regional tournament this weekend. Girls will wrestle in Lyman on Thursday and the Boys in Evanston on Friday. Qualifiers head to state the next week at the Ford Wyoming Center in Casper, with the Girls Tournament opening on Thursday (February 23rd) while the boys will begin on Friday!
The Boys Swim team have qualified 23 swimmers and will head to Gillette to try and capture their 27th straight Wyoming HIgh School State Championship. Something tells me we are a strong favorite, but ask any member of the team and I think you will learn we are big underdog, and I love to cheer for underdogs, so let’s go Tigers!
The LVHS Nordic team continues to compete well, with many racers in the top 20 and all four individual race champions were Lander Tigers! The team has one more week until their state competition in Jackson. Here are the results from Cody this weekend:

As you all know, we are in the middle of our scheduling process for next year with most of our current students well into that process. Tomorrow night (Monday) we will host the Class of 2027 and their parents as we start to make that transition to the newest generation of Tigers. A brief introduction will begin at 6pm in the LVHS Auditorium followed by a Department and Activities Gala in the Auxiliary Gym where we will show off the incredible academic and extracurricular opportunities we are so proud to offer our students. All incoming freshmen and their parents/guardians are highly encouraged to attend this event.
Please remember that next Monday was originally scheduled as a day-off for students but due to the January snow day we are now using that day as a make-up day. So please plan on sending your students to school on Monday, February 20th. A couple more important dates to save are March 21 (4-7pm) and March 22 (3:30-5:30) we will be hosting our spring parent teacher conferences as we close the 3rd quarter. On Tuesday, April 11th we will be having our State Testing Day. Details to come but on this date it is super important to have all 9-11th grade students in attendance.
