April 2, 2020

Dear Parents and Students,

Good morning! I hope that this memo finds you and your family safe and healthy. As we begin this new phase of remote learning, please know that our teachers and principals have worked hard to provide some great learning opportunities for all of our students. Details have been provided regarding specific expectations. As you know, the governor has extended the school closure through April 30th, and remote learning days will continue during this time. The Spring Break beginning Monday, April 6th through the following Monday will remain as planned.

Most importantly, we want all of you to know that our priority is to focus on student health and emotional wellness. We recognize that this is a very stressful time for families, and our goal is to continue supporting you during these difficult weeks. With so much negative news and worries for everyone, we are trying to provide the help that a true community school district can offer. Let us lift one another up during this challenging time, and our administration and teachers will be here for your kids.

I express our sincere appreciation to our local churches, pastors, and community leaders who have stepped forward to assist us, including the snack packs for families who have been receiving lunches. These snacks will be distributed today during our regular lunch pick-up. Please remember that school lunches will not be provided next week, but the snack packs will serve as a help to families during this time. The lunch pick-up program will resume on Tuesday, April 14th between 11:00 and 11:30 a.m. This program will continue through our school closure designated by the State of Illinois.

We send our wishes for good health and safety, and know that we are here for all of you!

Thank you,

Jay K. McCracken, Superintendent
