Lakeview Middle School is pleased to offer a variety of special classes to our students outside of their core curriculum.
Students attend Art, Gym, Choir, Band and Career Tech classes to enrich their learning and development.
I began teaching art at Lakeview in 1997. Before that, I taught art in Lisbon Local and Youngstown City Schools. I have earned all three of my degrees from YSU, an Associate’s Degree in Early Childcare (1983), a Bachelor of Fine Art with a second major in Education (1993), and a Master of Arts in Art Education (2010). While at Lakeview I have taught art at Cortland Elementary, Bazetta Elementary and the Middle School in grades first through eighth. In my spare time I enjoy making cards, reading and painting with watercolors. My husband, daughter and I enjoy doing yoga, bicycling and spending time with our two golden retrievers Brody and Daisy and our cat Oliver. I am honored to have the opportunity to teach your child about art. Visual Art teaches students how to creatively solve problems and practice higher order thinking skills. When students are the artists, they are in charge of the project and they make choices that will help them to reach their goals and convey the ideas they wish to express. This is an empowering opportunity for students that will enable them to become innovative, observant, reflective and confident. You are always welcome to contact me at any time.

I am beginning my 12 th year of teaching, and my first in the Lakeview School District. It is a privilege to be a part of an outstanding school district and music program! Prior to coming to Lakeview, I served as the Director of Bands in the Champion Local School District. Currently, I am the Percussion Advisor and Assistant Director of the Henry H. Stambaugh Youth Concert Band, and Assistant Conductor of the Salem Quaker City Community Band. I am also an active member of the Ohio Music Education Association, serving as an Adjudicator and being the OMEA District 5 President.
I also still perform on my instrument with the W.D. Packard Concert Band, Greenville Symphony Orchestra, Salem Quaker City Community Band, Lowellville Mt. Carmel Band, and the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra.
I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from Youngstown State University, and my Master’s Degree in Music Education from Kent State University.
I currently reside in Howland, Ohio. I look forward to a fantastic year of music making with the students of the Lakeview Band program!

I’ve now had the privilege of teaching at the former Cortland Elementary, Lakeview Middle School and Lakeview High School during my 17 years in the district. Working at multiple levels has given me the opportunity to appreciate the very different roles our faculty members play in the lives of kids from K-12. I’ve been blessed to teach grade levels and topics that I love. I taught 8th grade American history for many years. Early American history is more of a hobby than a job for me and I love visiting historical places. I’m now fortunate enough to teach a career tech and video production class at the middle school. This has allowed me to use some of what I learned while earning a bachelor’s degree in broadcast media. It has also opened a lot of avenues for creativity. I’m very proud of the work our LMS students have done on our student-led, in-house news program called Hi5 on LKTV. Through the efforts of our LMS students, we’ve been able to spotlight middle school kids for their diverse talents, stories and accomplishments.
When I’m not at work, I’m home with my wife, Stephany, our son, Prescott (named after Colonel William Prescott, hero of the Revolutionary War’s Battle of Bunker Hill), and our two dachshunds (Winnie - named for the character in the Wonder Years and Luna - a deaf rescue named after Luna Lovegood in Harry Potter due to her crazy eyes). I’ve coached boys/girls basketball, softball and boys/girls cross country during my time at Lakeview. My hobbies include garage sales, traveling, history, golf, following various sports teams, watching my beloved DVR and collecting toys, movie props, etc from my childhood (anyone born in the 80s knows we had it the best with He Man, GI Joe, Transformers, Star Wars, WWF wrestling, Nintendo and I could go on for days). Mr. Turco got me started on LEGOs, so I’ve added that to my collection as well. Oh yeah, shoes. I love shoes.

I am very familiar with the Cortland community, having been a 2014 valedictorian of Maplewood High School. From there, I earned my Bachelor's degree in Music Education from Youngstown State University in 2018. During my time at YSU, I gained invaluable experience through being head drum major of the YSU marching pride as well as being a member of the prestigious YSU Wind Ensemble and Dana Chorale. Upon graduation in 2018, I taught three years of K-8 music at Madison Community Elementary in Cleveland, OH before spending the past three years in Las Vegas, Nevada teaching K-5 music and being an Athletic Director at Mater Academy of Nevada. Entering my 7th year teaching, I am overjoyed to be joining the wonderful staff at Lakeview Local Schools! I look forward to continuing a tradition of excellence within the choral department. I will have the pleasure of directing the 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade choirs as well as our HS Concert Choir and our auditioned group, the Madripops.

I have been employed by the Lakeview School District for 29 years. During my tenure at LMS I have taught 5th-8th graders in various subjects. I have also held the position of Athletic Director, Dean of Students and Elementary Principal within the Lakeview School System. I graduated from Slippery Rock University with a bachelor's degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in education. I continued my higher education by acquiring my K-12 administration certificate in 2006. I live in West Middlesex, PA with my wife and three children, Gabe, Luke and Sloan. I love teaching middle school students and I am happy to be part of the sixth grade team. Please feel free to email or call with questions or concerns you may have about your child’s education.
