ACP: Academic & Career Planning
The History of ACP within the education field:
The Academic & Career Plan is a state wide initiative related to college and career readiness, but each district maintains local control over their Academic & Career Planning program for students. In response to this movement, Lakeland Union High School has been working on developing the key program requirements to better serve our student population. In addition to adding a required ACP course for all Juniors, LUHS has also incorporated ACP learning materials into weekly homerooms.
Meet our ACP Teachers
Mrs. Hartzheim and Mr. Jake Richards teach our Academic & Career Planning class for all Juniors to help them develop the skills and knowledge that is needed after high school.
Some of the skills covered in ACP that we believe students need to enhance in order to be college AND career ready:
- Demonstrated academic knowledge and skills (gained from core and elective coursework)
- Life Skills: Productive self-concept, ability to advocate, perseverance
- Demonstrated self-management
- Effective organizational and social behavior
