LUHS Student Council

General

Student Council has many responsibilities throughout a given school year. These include organizing and carrying out the annual spirit weeks, which include Homecoming and Polar Daze. We also sponsor several community service events including fundraisers for various causes and the annual Pink Out the benefits the Northwoods Cancer Care Fund and the Mr. T-Bird Pageant that benefits charitable causes. Additionally, S.C. holds teacher appreciation events, holiday events, and other dances. As a member of Student Council you will also have the opportunity to participate in the WASC (Wisconsin Association of School Councils) State Leadership Conference held each spring.

We do a lot of things behind the scenes, we have eight students who meet with the principal called the Principal Advisory Committee, this group has been instrumental in affecting policy in the school. Both the President and Vice President of Student Council sit on the co-curricular council along with officers of other school clubs and athletics. This group meets with the Activities Director, they have been instrumental in affecting policy. Both school board reps are non-voting members of the LUHS School Board, they have also been instrumental in affecting policy.

Membership

Once accepted as a member of Student Council, members will be required to abide by a points system in order to maintain membership. At the end of each semester, membership points will be reviewed. At this time, if a member is not meeting the required number of points designated in the constitution, he/she will be given the opportunity to meet with the advisor and executive officers for review. From there, membership status will be determined. More specific information on the points system will follow after voting has been completed.

Meetings

Student Council will hold one general meeting every month during a class period. The meetings will be used for discussing general S.C. business including upcoming events and fundraisers, as well as specific class business as needed. Committee meetings are held as needed during activity periods and before school as needed.
