Myself and my oldest son.
My name is Laura Whitesitt. This is my 7th year with the district and I love working with the kids, families, and teachers in this district. I am married with two boys, Colton and Taylor, and a girl Morgyn.
I am a North Idaho native. I grew up about 15 miles east of Coeur d’Alene. I love animals, so I wanted to be a veterinarian. I volunteered at a vet hospital, but when I passed out watching a spay surgery; I realized I needed a new plan. My friends would always ask me for help and I enjoyed helping them. This joy, combined with my love of math and science, led me to my passion for teaching.
After graduating from Lake City High School, I went to NIC before moving on to U of I and majoring in Secondary Education with an emphasis on Biology. My first teaching experience was at Mountain Home Junior High in southern Idaho, just east of Boise. After three years of high desert, tumbleweeds, and wind 10 months of the year, I moved home. I’ve also taught at Coeur d’Alene Charter Academy and was a guest teacher for both the Coeur d’Alene and Post Falls School Districts.
