I am Summer Villegas, an 8th grade language arts teacher at Washington Middle School (WMS) in the La Habra City School District (LHCSD).

I am connected to the community of La Habra and it holds a special place in my heart for many reasons. I have roots in this town. My great-grandparents, who prioritized education, settled in this city during the 1930's. Multiple members of my immediate and extended family attended La Habra schools throughout the last eight decades, myself included. I am proud to be a former student of LHCSD schools having attended El Cerrito and Imperial Middle School (IMS). I enjoyed growing up in La Habra and wanted to give back to this community. To do so, I chose to exercise my profession in this school district.

My role as an educator began receiving my B.A. and teaching credential in 2004 from California State University, Fullerton. I entered into LHCSD as an educator at IMS and have now been teaching at WMS for the past ten years.

As a teacher, I respect, protect, and nurture students with the intent of creating the best learning environment to maximize their social, emotional, and academic development.

Soy Summer Villegas, una profesora de artes del lenguaje de octavo grado en Washington Middle School (WMS) en el Distrito Escolar de la Ciudad de La Habra (LHCSD).

Estoy conectado con la comunidad de La Habra y ocupa un lugar especial en mi corazón por muchas razones. Tengo raíces en esta ciudad. Mis bisabuelos, que priorizaron la educación, se establecieron en esta ciudad durante la década de 1930. Varios miembros de mi familia inmediata y extendida asistieron a las escuelas De La Habra a lo largo de las últimas ocho décadas, incluido yo. Estoy orgulloso de ser un antiguo estudiante de las escuelas LHCSD habiendo asistido a El Cerrito y a la Escuela Secundaria Imperial (IMS). Disfruté creciendo en La Habra y quería devolver a esta comunidad. Para ello, elegí ejercer mi profesión en este distrito escolar.

Mi papel como educador comenzó a recibir mi licenciatura y enseñanza de credenciales en 2004 de la Universidad Estatal de California, Fullerton. Entré en LHCSD como educador en IMS y he estado enseñando en WMS durante los últimos diez años.
