My name is Cecilia Hernandez and I am the Community Liaison at Las Lomas. I am the daughter of immigrant parents who instilled in their children the importance of education. As Community Liaison I hope to be able to assist our families in navigating our school system, accessing the many resources available in our community, and encouraging our students to strive for a life of learning and betterment.

Mi nombre es Cecilia Hernandez y soy la Enlace Comunitaria de Las Lomas. Soy hija de padres inmigrantes que inculcaron en sus hijos la importancia de la educación. Como Enlace Comunitaria, espero poder ayudar a nuestras familias a navegar por nuestro sistema escolar, acceder a los muchos recursos disponibles en nuestra comunidad e inculcar en nuestros estudiantes el deseo de seguir una vida de aprendizaje y mejora.
Experience/ Experiencia
Prior to working in La Habra as Community Liaison, I was an elementary school teacher in LAUSD. I took some time off to raise my children but, as you all know, being a stay at home mom is a full time job! I was able to enjoy spending time with my children, being a PTA volunteer, Girl Scout co-leader and a Water Polo Booster President. Nonetheless, now that my children are grown, I decided to return to working with students and their families.

Antes de trabajar en La Habra como Enlace Comunitaria, fui maestra de primaria LAUSD. Decidi tomar tiempo para criar a mis hijos, pero como todos saben, ¡ser ama de casa es un trabajo de tiempo completo! Pude disfrutar de mis hijos, ser voluntaria del PTA, ser co-líder de Girl Scouts y Presidente del Club de Water Polo. No obstante, ahora que mis hijos se han graduado de la universidad, decidí volver a trabajar con estudiantes y sus familias.

Our family has lived in Fullerton for the past 25 years. My husband and I have two wonderful children. Our daughter is a PhD student at UCLA. Our son also graduated from UCLA with a major in Applied Mathematics and is now currently employed with AQMD. As a family we have always loved learning and enjoyed exploring our beautiful National Parks.

Nuestra familia ha vivido en Fullerton por los últimos 25 años. Mi esposo y yo tenemos dos maravillosos hijos. Nuestra hija atiende UCLA trabajando para obtener su Post Doctorado. Nuestro hijo tambien se graduo de UCLA con su especialización en Matemáticas Aplicadas y esta presentemente empleado con AQMD. Como familia siempre nos ha encantado aprender y disfrutar al explorar nuestros hermosos Parques Nacionales.
