In this course, you’ll expand on your camera skills and get more hands-on experience with your TechKit camera and lighting equipment. But don’t worry if you’ve never operated lighting equipment before because this course will start at the very beginning — by explaining what each piece of your lighting equipment is and what it’s used for. By the end of the course, you’ll be confident enough in your camera and lighting skills to design lighting setups and adjust camera settings to create visuals that convey meaning and tone.

The Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4k (BMPCC4k) is a high quality digital camera which you will be using to record your film projects.
The SmallRig cage surrounds the camera on all sides and adds multiple attachment positions for a variety of camera accessories including the SmallRig Top Handle.
The SmallRig Top Handle is attached to the camera cage and provides a secure place to grip the camera rig when moving the camera between setups on location.
The SmallRig Mattebox is mounted directly onto an adapter ring which threads into the front of the lens. The mattebox features a filter tray and metal flag to block direct light.
The Tiffen ND Filter is primarily used outdoors to reduce light and allow for creative exposure decisions. It fits inside the filter tray on the SmallRig Mattebox.
The Manfrotto 502 tripod system provides a stable support for camera and features a fluid head which is great for smooth movements such as panning and tilting.
The FeelWorld 7" External Monitor allows the camera's image to be displayed on a large screen which is suitable for evaluating focus—even in direct sunlight!
The Pearstone HDMI cable connects between the camera's HDMI video output and the FeelWorld monitor's HDMI video input.
The Lexar 64GB SD cards is a v60 UHS II speed media card specifically chosen for the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4k. The card speed will allow for HD and 4K recordings.
The Meike 12mm cinema lens has a wide field of view and fits directly on the camera's micro 4/3 lens mount. It features a front rotating focus ring and rear aperture ring.
The Meike 25mm cinema lens has a normal field of view and fits directly on the camera's micro 4/3 lens mount. It features a front rotating focus ring and rear aperture ring.
The Meike 50mm cinema lens has a narrow field of view and fits directly on the camera's micro 4/3 lens mount. It features a front rotating focus ring and rear aperture ring.
There are three Fovitec LED light panels in your techkit. They are bicolor and able to move between incandescent (3200K) and daylight (5600K) color temperatures. This allows the light to be adaptable to a variety of lighting conditions.
There are two soft box kits in your equipment package. The primary use for this item is to soften the light quality of the LED panels. Soft light can be an important part of a cinematographer's toolkit because it helps define mood for a shot.
There are two dedicated lighting stands in your techkit. Both stands feature a 4ft leg base when fully extended. This adds stability when adding lighting fixtures of medium weight. The stands will rise in height up to 9.5'.
The multi boom can be used as a light stand. It also features a hidden articulating arm which extends in a variety of angles, including 90 degrees. The mounting clips attached to the stand allow it to hold a reflector in place when a bounce light is desired.
There are (2) Watson LP-E6 (Canon style) batteries in your techkit. The LP-E6 battery fits inside the camera's handgrip and supplies power to the camera for about 30-45 mins on a full charge.
There are (2) Watson NP-F770 (Sony style) batteries in your techkit. The NP-F770 battery supplies power to the FeelWorld external monitor. We use it in the "Indie" camera build configuration.
The Watson LP-E6 (Canon style) battery charger fully charges LP-E6 batteries for use inside the camera's battery compartment. An LED indicator shows RED when charging and GREEN when completed.
The Watson NP-F (Sony style) battery charger fully charges NP-F batteries for use with the FeelWorld external monitor. An LED indicator shows RED when charging and GREEN when completed.
The Impact Reflector features reversable reflective fabrics which are used to bounce light into a scene or on a subject. Often, reflectors are used in place of a physical light and give additional control to the light shaping process.
