LaFayette Reading Challenge

In an effort to encourage independent reading among students and staff, the LaFayette Jr./Sr. High School is continuing the Reading Challenge into the 2019-20 school year! Readers earn points by reading books that fall within the challenge categories listed below. This is a competition among individuals as well as grade levels (teachers included). If you achieve the goal set for your grade level you will earn points toward your final ELA grade. The grade that finishes with the highest participation rate will have an end of the year victory party for all those in that grade who participated. Lastly, the individual earning the MOST points during the school year wins the secret grand prize!

Rules:

  • Books must be read between June 2019 and May 2020.
  • You can pick and choose which categories you will read.
  • Students must earn the following points to achieve their grade level goal:
    • 7th-8th graders: 15 points
    • 9th-10th graders: 18 points
    • 11th-12th graders: 20 points
  • Your ELA teacher will verify the points you’ve earned.
  • Each book you read can only earn points in one category.
  • Points from each category can only be earned once by each reader.
  • Submit the titles you’ve read online through the JSHS library website.
