OB Music

Welcome to OB music! I'm excited to sing, dance, play, and create music together!

Music education is an integral part of each student’s education at Old Bonhomme Elementary School. Striving to educate the whole child, the music program is comprehensive and designed to differentiate learning for all students. The program of study incorporates the National Standards of Music Education, the Missouri Learning Standards, and the music curriculum for Ladue School District.

Integrating the philosophies of Orff and Kodaly, music appreciation and literacy are achieved by experiencing music first. This process involves singing, playing instruments, moving, and listening. Students will apply their musical knowledge through improvising, composing, evaluating, as well as reading and notating music.

I have been teaching in the Ladue School District since 2006. I taught band in grades 5-12 my first 14 years before I requested a placement at Old Bonhomme in 2020 to joyfully share and explore music with our K-4 students.

My Bachelor of the Arts in Music and Master's in Education degrees are from Truman State University where flute was my primary instrument. I coach softball at Ladue High School in the fall. My husband, Mark, teaches 7th grade Social Studies. I have two children, Owen (12) and Cora (9), and two cats, George and Gracie.

I look forward to a musical year with your children! Please reach out with questions or ways I can support your family or child.

Musically Yours,
Ms. Solomon
