Case I: First-Time Gmail app setup on your iPhone or iPad
Search for “Google" in the App Store and download Gmail. Download any other Google apps that you also want to use: Google Calendar, Google Hangouts and Google Drive. Once the apps have downloaded, launch the Gmail app and follow the instructions to complete logging in with your @lacity.org work credentials. After the Gmail app has been set up, continue logging in to the other Google apps you installed in order to connect them to your work account as well.
Case II: You already use the Gmail app and want to ADD your lacity.org account
- Verify that you are using the Gmail app downloaded from the App Store - and not the default Apple Mail app.
- Open the Gmail app on your iPhone or iPad.
- Tap the ☰ menu in the upper left corner of the app.
- Click the dropdown ▽ arrow by your current account’s email address
- Tap Manage Accounts and + Add Account
- Select Google on the "Set up mail" window
- Click Continue for the prompt "Gmail Wants to Use "google.com" to Sign in."
- Enter your lacity.org address at the Google Sign in
- The City of Los Angeles email login page will be displayed. Enter your lacity.org user ID and password.
- After your account is added, you will automatically be signed into Gmail anytime you open the Gmail app.
- To switch between accounts,
- Tap the ☰ menu in the upper left corner of the app.
- Click the dropdown ▽ arrow by your current account’s email address
- Tap the account that you want to use
