How to Survive Spider Sightings

     By Anderson Vasquez

Spiders are seen as terrifying creatures by about 12% of people worldwide, which means that 88% of people are either lying or have never encountered a spider. It’s easy to stay calm when talking about spiders, but when you feel the crawling sensation of an eight-legged critter skittering along your body, it sends chills throughout.

Arachnologists (people who study spiders) like Dr. Scott says that almost all spiders are “harmless to humans” with less than 100 actually dangerous to a human. Physically harmless maybe, but the fact remains that these monsters are mentally horrifying. Just ask an arachnophobe (those with a fear of spiders) such as Jose Delgado-Ramirez, whose first instinct is to either “run out of the room” or, when feeling especially brave, might try to kill the spider by “grabbing a random item like a shoe.”

If you’re going to be able to sleep at night, you’re going to need to eradicate these terrifying and dangerous creatures from the planet. Some basic killing methods are squishing and stepping on spiders, but who wants to take the risk to get that near to the spider? If you want to make sure that the spider stays dead then a proven effective method is to burn the house down. This way you would know that the spider is dead unless it escaped and you burnt your house for nothing, forcing you to sleep with more critters.

But not all spiders are terrifying; you may run into a spider that just wants to dance. In that case, dance with it or just let it enjoy its party.
