マテリアルサイエンス（物質科学）は生命現象、物質創成から宇宙科学まで、地球社会に関わる全ての現象と実体を理解し、役立てるための学術であり、同時に人類の活動に最も広く、密接に関わり、地球社会の持続的発展に必要なイノベーション創出にも直結する学問分野です。京都大学は化学、材料科学、生命科学を含む、物質科学の広い分野において世界を牽引する成果を挙げてきました。本学がこの分野のさらなる発展を引き続き牽引していくためには、教員と学生が集中して研究に取り組むことができる環境の一層の整備が必要です。京都大学では、このような施策の一つとして、文部科学省が令和３年度から開始する「科学技術イノベーション創出に向けた大学フェローシップ創設事業」の補助を受け、「マテリアルイノベーションを創出する未来人材育成フェローシップ（FS-MAT）」を立ち上げ、物質科学研究に取り組む博士後期課程の大学院学生に対する経済的支援を進めます。大学院生諸君には、京都大学らしい深い学術探求を進めることに加えて、学術分野を超えた、あるいはイノベーション創出につなげるための広い視野を養ってもらうことを期待しています。本事業においては、経済的支援に加え、研究力を高め、そのような広い視野を涵養するための機会を提供することにしています。本フェローシップ事業が、京都大学の物質科学のさらなる飛躍と、諸君が将来の日本、世界の物質科学研究とイノベーション創出を担うリーダーとして成長する一助となることを期待します。

Materials science is a discipline that aims to understand and make use of the phenomena and systems that make up our modern societies, from living systems and the creation of materials, to space science. It is closely related to human activities and to the creation of innovations necessary for the sustainable development of our global society. Kyoto University has achieved world-leading results in the broad field of materials science, including physics, chemistry, life sciences, and engineering. For Kyoto University to continue to lead the development of this field, it is necessary to further improve the environment in which faculty and students carry out their research. As one such measure, Kyoto University has established the Fellowship for Future Materials Innovation (FS-MAT) with support from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) under its "University Fellowship Program for the Creation of Innovation in Science and Technology" starting in 2021. The fellowship will provide financial support for graduate students who are enrolled in the doctoral course and are engaged in materials science research. In addition to pursuing in-depth academic pursuits typical of Kyoto University, we expect graduate students to develop a broad perspective that transcends academic disciplines, and leads to the creation of innovations in materials science. In addition to financial support, the fellowships will provide students with the opportunities to enhance their research skills and develop such a broad perspective. We hope that this fellowship program will help Kyoto University to make further progress in materials science and to develop you as a future leader in materials science research and innovation in Japan and around the world.

2024年度（春）追加募集 / AY2024 Spring Additional Recruitment:

• 2022年度および2023年度のFS-MAT 採用枠に若干名の補充が可能となり、同採用枠への追加募集を行います / Due to vacancies in AY2022 and AY2023 FS-MAT fellowships, we recruit additional students in 2024 Spring. 

応募資格 / Eligibility to Apply:

• 2024年４月に博士後期課程の第 1 年次から第 3 年次（D1-D3）に在籍していること / Students must be enrolled in the first year to the third year of doctoral programs（D1-D3）in April 2024.

※機構SPRINGプログラム通常枠の春選抜（2024年3月28日募集終了）との併願は可能ですが、両方に重複して採択されることはありません / Concurrent applications for the SPRING program in AY2024 (regular category, spring selection) are acceptable, but applicants will not be selected for both programs at the same time.

以下に該当する学生は支援対象になりません / Following students aren’t eligible.

• 日本学術振興会の特別研究員 / Students who are selected for the JSPS Research Fellowship for Young Scientists

• 機構SPRINGプログラムからすでに支援を受けている学生 / Students who are selected for SPRING program 

• 生活費に係る十分な水準（240 万円／年）の奨学金を得ている学生 / Students who obtain an enough scholarship for living expenses (2.4 million yen per year)

• 所属する大学や企業等から、生活費相当額として十分な水準（240 万円／年）で、給与・役員報酬等の安定的な収入を得ていると認められる学生 / Students who obtain stable income through salary, executive remuneration, or the like from their affiliated university, company, etc., at a sufficient level to cover living expenses (2.4 million yen per year)

• 国費外国人留学生制度による支援を受ける留学生、本国からの奨学金等の支援を受ける留学生 / International students supported by a Japanese Government Scholarship or a scholarship from their home country.

支援額 / Amount of Support:

• 一年度あたり256万円（研究奨励費216万円＋研究費40万円） / 2.56 million yen per year (2.16 million yen for research incentive grant + 0.4 million yen for research grant) 

• 授業料半額免除措置/The half exemption of each semester tuition

※研究奨励費216万円は、生活費相当額及び授業料半期額支援を含みます/ the research incentive grant, 2.16 million yen, includes living expense and half tuition fee support. 

※研究奨励費は2024 年 4 月 から支援されますが、本募集は空き枠を補充するものであるため、標準修業年限前に支援が終了する場合があります /  The grant will be provided from April 2024; however, since this recruitment is to fill the slots for fellowship students who have declined, the grant support period may be terminated before your standard  duaration of doctoral studies, depending on the predecessor‘s authorized support period.
