CPR/AED, First Aid, Lifeguarding, Concussion in Sports, & DASA courses 

On July 30, 2025, the NYS Education Department abolished the NYS CPR/AED and NYS First AID for Coaches courses/programs. 

Instead, coaches may enroll in courses that have national accreditation. The rigid course list no longer exists. As coaches, your CPR/AED certification should include skills for working with Adults and Children (at minimum.)  CPR/AED courses may be hybrid or fully in person. At minimum, a course must have an in-person skill session to demonstrate skills. There is more flexibility with the first aid component. First Aid courses may be completely asynchronous, but a course with an in-person component is recommended (but not required.)
