Kenmore-Grand Island-Lockport (KenGI-Port) is a varsity program that requires students to attend one of the four high schools and their feeding middle schools in grades 7-12 in order to play. Players must be academically eligible and in good behavioral standing within their school, as well.
Interested players in grades 7 or 8 must pass the Advanced Physical Placement (APP) test before being eligible to tryout. This only has to be passed once, and just for 7th and 8th grade players. For more information on the APP test, contact your district's Athletics Department.
Before being able to participate in any team activity, including tryouts, players must first:
Pass the APP test, if applicable (7th & 8th Grade)
Parents first sign up and sign all forms and waivers on Final Forms (Ken-Ton link, Grand Island link, Lockport link)
Students sign all forms and waivers on Final Forms
Have an updated physical (within one year) on file with the school nurse
Any other district-requirements, such as Concussion Tests.
Team practices are at either Paddock Arena (251 Brompton Rd in Tonawanda) or Kenmore Jr/Sr High School (155 Delaware Rd in Kenmore). There is no school-provided transportation for these events. Practices are generally around 4pm.
Home games are at Paddock Arena, almost always on Tuesday evenings.
For away games, transportation is usually provided only for further games. Games at the Northtown Center or North Buffalo Tacoma will not have school transportation. Ken-Ton generally provides transportation for Niagara University and Hyde Park. Grand Island will usually send a bus to meet the Ken-Ton bus for Cheektowaga, Leisure, or HarborCenter. Lockport players have historically had to transport themselves to all events in WNY.
Communicate all challenges, and families are encouraged to carpool as much as possible to help each other out.
Fill out the following Google Form.
Note: student emails are not able to receive messages from outside of the district network, so Grand Island and Lockport players are encouraged to include a personal or parent email instead of their school email address.
