I am very excited to be sharing my love of music and guide you on your musical journey! In a supportive environment, we work together to achieve your musical goals. I strive to inspire every student to become an independent musician with a lifelong love and appreciation for music.
Mrs. Stegman is one of my most favorite teachers I have ever had. She just makes piano class so much fun and I always leave learning so much. She looks at all my interests and goals and does many fun projects and events. Not only is she an amazing teacher, she is so kind and is someone I can always talk to about anything.

I am a music teacher in the Mason, Ohio area with more than 19 years of teaching experience in piano, clarinet, and music theory. I perform regularly in different ensembles including a cover band and jazz band, as well as accompany students for contests and recitals.
Mrs. Stegman is honestly an amazing teacher — she’s taught both of my children, and they have excelled in both piano theory and performance. What’s even more important to me is that she engages them and has fun, personable demeanor every lesson! Thank you so much for everything you do for us, Mrs. Stegman!!!!

Recitals provide opportunities for students to share their progress, support one another, and build confidence. Hosting several through the year, these are intended to be fun events to showcase student accomplishments! Annually we try to do an autumn costume recital, a holiday or winter recital, and a spring recital. While never mandatory, performance is part of a student's development.
Students have opportunities to participate in events such as the Keyboard Teachers Association's Evalution Festival and Piano Gymnastics, Queen City Music Fest, and the musical development programs of either the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) or the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM).
Each year, we do a studio-wide collaborative composition project, encouraging students who often go on to find their own musical voice through composition. We also do arranging projects and independent composition projects. A book of the studio compositions is printed and shared each year. Student artwork is featured, so it's truly a student-produced book.
Memberships with local and regional organizations including: Music Teachers National Association (MTNA), OMTA (Ohio Music Teachers Association), Keyboard Teachers Association (KTA), The Society for Music Theory, and a platinum teacher in the Music Educator Program with Willis Music. I have been the acting president of the KTA since 2013.
Continuing education: classes and conferences including RCM and Whole-Body learning courses, the 88 Creative Keys Workshop held in Denver, and the Piano Safari Institute summer program at Ohio University. While on scholarship at Miami University, I studied Music Performance (clarinet) on clarinet. University coursework has also included piano pedagogy, performance practice of various periods, master's level theory coursework (though I have not pursued a Master's degree.)
I also hold an Associates Degree in Commercial Art, and have a love of creative writing. I've even published a novel (under a pen name)!
To help guide our musical skills and dig deep into expressive playing, students are encouraged to get creative, such as creating artwork or writing short stories to go with their pieces. Many student's favorite part of the composition project is the final week when they give the piece a title, and some have ventured into writing lyrics as well.
