Real World Learning

Program overview

The district is in the process of defining Real World Learning at every level, K-12. It is a type of learning which is authentically tied to the world of work.  When students learn in a “Real World” way, they are immersed in a rich meaningful experience closely associated with a job occupation or project. But, it is more than just on-the-job experience, because it requires a high degree of communication, collaboration, critical thinking, creativity, problem solving and even failure.

About me

I began my job as the Career Readiness Coordinator during the 2019 school year, after teaching ELA for 14 years. I have a passion for helping students connect the dots so that they may discover a career that marries their interests to their aptitudes. I believe it is important to expose students of all ages to occupations in paths in varying fields, opening their eyes to the many opportunities out there in today's ever-changing world of work.
