If you are looking for local scholarships that are given my the Kearney community, those will be available in the spring and awarded during the KHS Local Scholarship Night.
We encourage you to check out the college website that you are looking to attend and search "scholarships". Reaching out to the admissions counselor at the institution is also a good idea.
Your parent/guardian's employer is also another good resource for looking for scholarships. There are many corporations that offer scholarships.
College Visits
Important Information:
Students are allowed ONE verified absence for a college visit their junior year.
Students are allowed TWO verified absences for college visits their senior year.
Students may take more college visits than allotted; however, subsequent visits will not be “verified” in attendance (this should be a consideration for students enrolled in A+).
To qualify for Senior Study Hall, students must have completed TWO college visits second semester of their junior year. It is encouraged that students meet this requirement by attending college visits provided for students at KHS during Bulldog Time. Students must complete an additional two visits during the first semester of their senior year to maintain senior study hall status for second semester.
Bulldog Time College/Technical School Visits:
If you would like to attend a visit during Bulldog Time, please make sure to check your email for the room locations and check out with your Bulldog Time Instructor. Stay informed by checking our calendar located on the counseling website for upcoming visits and locations.

GAP YEAR
A gap year is a year between high school and college. Though students' specific experiences vary, the commonality is an opportunity for "personal growth." Whether it be travel or volunteer/service, the goal of a gap year is to help students understand their role in the world and find their purpose, passion and motivation before starting college.
Taking a gap year is definitely not for everyone. Students should carefully consider the pros and cons before making a decision. Do your research and read about some of the opportunities available through these programs.
We are not endorsing or recommending a gap year as that is a decision best made between the student and the parent.
