Good Afternoon Kays!!
I hope that this first month of the school year has been exciting for you! I wanted to share a few pieces of information with everyone.
1. The Password Matrix is a live document that you can access at the link below. The Matrix provides you with the password and login patterns for district provided programs and software. I recommend bookmarking it!
Over the summer we worked on creating password and login patterns that could be utilized by as many of our programs as possible.
2. My training calendar is available on the district website at https://www.ksd111.org/Page/465 as well as on the Homepage of this site. Please know that you are more than welcome to attend any Tech Drop at any building, not just the buildings you are assigned to!
a. These Tech Drops are opportunities for teachers and staff to stop in and ask questions, get quick help, or bounce ideas. Sometimes we may have a designed and structured lesson occurring if the staff at that building has requested it.
b. When I surveyed you at the end of last school year, about 30% stated that they would like to receive periodic ‘email blasts’ with information and helpful how-to’s. This website will contain these items as well.
3. As for those e-mail blasts with helpful hints and how-to’s:
a. Google Classroom made some great updates this summer that I hope you are enjoying! Here is a quick video that outlines some of those new features. If you’re still not comfortable with Google Classroom, but really want to try, this video is about 20 minutes (much longer than I like to send) and goes through everything!
b. Google Forms for quizzes added a few new features this summer as well! Here is a video for that! (I love YouTube! You can find videos for everything!)
4. Coming Soon!
a. You may notice today a new feature in your Google Drive, called Team Drive. The Kays tech team is working on creating a Google Drive system where we can share Curriculum across the district and have access to it outside of the district buildings. Please know, that as soon as it is ready, we will let you know. I will make sure to train everyone on how it works at your building Tech Drop Ins.
