This is the week we are going to go back and review what we have learned about being a good digital citizen. Students will also be introduced to Toy Theater.
Kindergartners will also continue to play alphabet games.
This is the week we are going to continue on with some of our coding activities we tried the last few weeks before break from code.org. We will be creating algorithms (list of instructions to complete a task) to get the harvester to pick the crop. We will be learning about the "loop" code (or reviewing for second graders) and using that to make shorter algorithms that still solve the problem.
This is the week that people all over the world participate in this awesome event called The Hour of Code. It is an hour of activities to encourage people to find the computer science industry appealing! We will spend our time together this week and next dabbling in computer coding to get to our "hour."
This week we will continue to review and then learn a bit more about how a good digital citizen doesn't give away their personal information. Hector and his friends will help us learn a few differences when people are asking for your personal information that can help us better understand when it is safe to give it away and when it is not.
This week we are returning to our lessons about digital citizenship. We will review and then learn a bit more about how a good digital citizen doesn't give away their personal information when they are creating screen names or usernames for a game that they can interact with other people in online. There is also activities posted in Seesaw to go with this week's lesson. Sadly, once again our Friday "A" families will not have specials due to the half day.
This week we will discuss how important it is to Embrace Differences (the E in PRIDE). We will look at how sometimes the differences between us might include different types of disabilitites and how we can be more aware of how abilities impact those around us. Technology can also assist to help make those disabilities a bit easier to work with.
This week we will discuss how our class will be set up and run slightly different with only 1/2 of each class and for some class a second 1/2 of a different class. In those classes we will take time to get to know each other. In all classes we will spend time reviewing the content we have learned so far about being a good digital citizen and the parts of the computer.
This week we will be talking more about things good digital citizens do. Specifically that they listen to their gut and tell a trusted adult if something that makes them feel uncomfortable or give them a funny feeling happens. We will also be learning/reviewing parts of the computer.
This week we will be getting the Monday and Friday classes all caught up. Tuesday and Wednesday classes will spend our class time reviewing what we have learned so far this school year in Technology.
This week, my Monday classes are still completing the lesson for week of September 14 as we missed the first 2 Mondays. My Friday classes will also miss out this week due to no school on Friday. The slides below will be used with Tuesday and Thursday classes this week and Monday and Friday classes next week.
This week I am going to finally get to meet my Monday classes! Those classes will try to do a combined version of all that we did the last 2 weeks plus a condensed version of this week- it will be a packed 30 minutes but you can always look back here to get caught up if you need! This week we will be focused on what it means to be a good digital citizen. We will also take a closer look at different tools in Seesaw.
This week we are continuing to review the expectations while we are remote learning on zoom and spend some more time getting reacquainted.
Our Seesaws are finally all set up, if you didn't already do the smart phone activity on paper or Seesaw, please do it this week! You can fill out the paper copy and return it to school or take a picture of it and upload it to Seesaw. You can also choose to just complete the Seesaw version of it.
2nd Graders, a new paper went home in your packet this week to draw about being a good digital citizen. This paper will be added on Seesaw for all to do next week. If you want to complete it and wait until next week to load it on Seesaw that would be great.
