This week we will be participating in the world wide event known as The Hour of Code. We will use our 30 minute specials this week and next to add up to our hour. The focus is on computer coding in the hopes that students will learn some simple coding and perhaps become more intrigued with the various career fields impacted by computer science.
This week we will be learning how to access Google Draw inside of a Google Doc. We will use this to create multiple images to be used as the ornaments for our school's annual Giving Tree.
This week we will discuss how important it is to Embrace Differences (the E in PRIDE). We will look at how sometimes the differences between us might include different types of disabilitites and how we can be more aware of how abilities impact those around us. Technology can also assist to help make those disabilities a bit easier to work with.
This week we will discuss how our class will be set up and run slightly different with only 1/2 of each class and for some class a second 1/2 of a different class. In those classes we will take time to get to know each other. In all classes we will spend time reviewing the content we have learned so far and wrap up our lessons about Nitro Type.
This week 3rd Graders will continue their work in Typing.com and will spend time exploring the typing games. 4th and 5th graders will continue their work in Typing.com and will put the finishing touches on their Fall assignments.

We are a little all over the place due to there being no school for the first 2 Mondays and then no school on Friday during week 4. We will be getting everyone caught up and in the same spot during week 5 (week of September 28). Some of your classes will be using a combination of these slides during week 4 and 5. If you are my Monday classes you did week of 3 lessons during the week of Sept. 21 and will do week 4 lessons during the week of Sept. 28. By the time we get to week 6 we should be all caught back up - hopefully!
This week we are going to review the digital citizenship information we learned last week by playing Kahoot! In order to play Kahoot! together during class we need to be able to split our screen between our Zoom meeting & the Kahoot.it playing screen. We will learn a couple easy ways to do this. We were supposed to also learn how to take a picture and upload it onto a Google Classroom assignment, but in some of my classes we ran out of time so that will wait until next week. The Kahoot! games will also be assigned for you to play again asynchronously as you have time in case it didn't work right for you or if your class didn't get to finish it while we were together live.
This week we are diving into digital citizenship. 3rd graders will focus on the Rings of Responsibility and learn about how it is important to keep not only yourself safe when you are online but make choice to keep your community & your world safe too. 4th & 5th Graders will focus on learning about what Media Balance is and how important it is to maintain it. In our Google Classroom, students will find a Google Doc and a Google Form for both units.
Welcome back to school! This year things will look a bit different as we navigate remote learning. This week we will take a look at a few important programs we will be using this year. We will also take some time to get reacquainted. In your Google Classroom for Technology you will find a link for a shared document where I would like you to list something you think you know about remote learning and a question you might have. You will also find a link to a Google Form so I can get better reacquainted with you all. If you have any questions about accessing Google Classroom, please email me.
