Aloha mai e nā haumāna & ʻohana,

My name is Kumu Malia Andrus. Kahaluʻu, Oʻahu is my one hānau, but I have also lived much of my life in Heʻeia/Kāneʻohe, Hauʻula and a few years here in Mountain View and Laupāhoehoe. As an artist, I am fascinated with the intersections of art and plants -- loving kapa-making and most especially, creating dyes/inks from plants. I have been teaching art for over 13 years. Before starting at KS-Hawaiʻi in 2020, I taught art at KS-Kapālama on Oʻahu, Hawaiʻi Technology Academy, and Hakipuʻu Learning Center. I attribute my love of art to my ʻohana, so many of whom are artists, and inspiring educator/artist/mentors in my life, like Meleanna Meyer, Harinani Orme, Mark Graham, and Roen Hufford.

Please feel free to contact me through email at raandrus@ksbe.edu if you have art questions or need art kōkua.
