WHY WOULD I USE THIS:
Students stay within Schoology
Do not need passwords for databases
Access to reliable, school appropriate resources
Schoology make it easy to share content with students from databases. You can embed or link to articles, videos and other materials within Schoology.
Use the Rich Content Editor in an assignment, discussion, or quiz to access the database resources.
HOW
Link vs Embed
Click to toggle options.
Faculty can directly embed content from the Infobase databases into their courses without leaving the LMS
Embed Codes—these allow you to add content into any HTML page or learning management system (LMS). This makes it really easy to share content with students via systems you may already have in place
Record URLs/Permalinks—these allow you to email links to specific pages or content, such as articles and videos, directly from within the products or your own email; these can also be used in any LMS
Rich Text Editor
The Schoology HTML editor contains an Insert Content option shown below. This icon is available inside the HTML editor used in some of the Add Materials options, such as adding an Assignment, Test/Quiz, Discussion, or Page to your course.
Click on the desired option such as Add Page.
Click on the Insert Content editor option.
Click on the product option located on the right-hand side of the Insert Content menu.
The Import from resources pop up window will appear, which is identical to the Add Materials window shown above.
Follow the same steps outlined above to locate and embed your desired content.
The content will appear as a yellow box within the editor until you click the Create button.
Your new course material will now appear under the main materials list. Clicking on the title will load the resource and any embedded records from the product page.
Links vs. Embed Codes
Question: What’s the difference between using embed code and copying the URL?
Answer: You can use either links or embed codes in an LMS. If you use a link, when your student goes to a LibGuide or LMS, they will see a hyperlink. When they click the link, they will leave that LMS or LibGuide and be brought to the database to read the full text. If you use an embed code, your student will see the full text of the article directly on the Schoology course page. They will not be taken to the database at all.
