He is Honoured Scientist of Ukraine, Doctor of Medicine, professor, he also is the head of the surgical department of Dnepropetrovsk medical academy.

The scientific achievements of the University are known both in Ukraine and abroad.

Among several candidates the university personnel by a majority of votes elected Mykhaylo Vasylyovych Zagirnyak - Honoured Scientist of Ukraine, Doctor of Sciences, Professor, Holder of the Order of Merit of III degree, Master of Sports.
