My favorite film

The series of films about the wizard Harry Potter, based on the books of the English writer JK Rowling, is my favorite film series. The world where movie heroes exist is filled with magic and unusual creatures. Amazing events that are impossible in reality take place in it, and in the finale of each part, good always triumphs over evil.

From the very first minutes the film captures with its unusual atmosphere and captivating plot. A simple twelve-year-old schoolboy Harry Potter suddenly turns out to be a real wizard and enters the Hogwarts school of magic, which is led by the wise and kind Professor Albus Dumbledore. This set-up is, of course, intriguing and makes you look forward to what will happen next.

And then the main character and his faithful friends – Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger are facing many incredible adventures. First of all, schoolchildren will have to fight the almighty Lord Voldemort and his minions, the Death Eaters. On their way, the guys will also meet the poisonous monster Basilisk, the insidious snake Nagini, the giant spider Aragog, Beakwing, animagi, ghosts and other fantastic creatures.

I like the fact that my favorite charaters and their friendship are growing with each new part of saga. They are able to overcome any obstacles in their path. And the older they become, the more trials they face. Many tragic events take place in the last part of saga. Of course, it makes me even more worried about the heroes.

Thus, the Harry Potter films are not just amazing fantastic stories for me. On the one hand it is a story about true friendship, love and self-sacrifice. But on the other, it is about overwhelming anger, hatred, lust for power and betrayal.

Ismael: Well, there’s a new science fiction film, ‘Alien attacks’.

Jack: OK, I like science fiction. Let’s see that.

Ismael: OK, I’ll ask the others if they like sci-fi.

Jack: What time is the film?

Ismael: At 8 o’clock. Let’s meet at 7:30 outside the cinema.

Jack: OK. See you later.

Ismael: Bye.

Cinema

An American Thomas Edison made the first machine with moving pictures in 1891. It was called a kinetoscope.

Then in 1895 a machine that projected pictures on to a screen was invented by two French brothers, Auguste and Louis Lumiere. They called their machine a cinematographe. The pictures from machine were shown one after another very quickly. The Lumierebrothers gave the world’s first public film show in 1896.

In the beginning films were made to show news. But by 1902 film makers began to write stories for films and use actors. The first “talkie” was shown in America in 1927. It was called “The jazz Singer”.

There are many different kinds of films: features films, animated cartoons, documentary or popular science films, westerns, comedies, historical, musical, horror films, newsreels and a lot of others.

Making a film is very difficult and complicated. Many people work at a film studio and take part in the film shooting. They are a producer, a scriptwriter, a cameraman, actors and actresses.

We see films either at the cinema or on TV. From time to time we go to the cinema. We buy tickets at the box – office beforehand. Near the cinema we can see a cinema bill where we can read what films are on the show begins.

Cinema is loved by people in all the countries. That is why nearly every year different film festivals are held. The most popular of them are film festivals in Cannes and in Odessa. The best films win “Oscar” or “Gold Duke”, the most talented actors and actresses are awarded with prizes.
