NGĀ WHAKARITENGA: WHĀNAU POUNAMU ORGANISATION

The daily routines and protocols of Te Whānau Pounamu are focused on developing a deeper understanding, respect and connection to Te Ao Māori. Tamariki attend technology specialist classes 2 blocks per week and participate across all areas that Kōwhai Intermediate offer.  Our tamariki are given the opportunity to take advantage of all special school programmes; the gifted and talented programme, performing arts, sports teams, and curriculum enrichment classes are examples of this.

Within Te Whānau Pounamu tamariki are offered enrichment and extention classes in Te Reo Mataini, hākinakina and kaupapa Māori

We also enlist the skills of other external providers;  Māori Performing Arts, hangarau matahiko experts, and people with a passion for mahi toi and design. These experts work with kaiako to further enrich the learning that happens within Te Whānau Pounamu.
