Konawaena High School
Konawaena High School's English/Language Arts department strives to provide every student with a relevant, rigorous, and safe education. Though the instruction provided by our highly qualified teachers—three of whom are National Board Certified—is standards based, we recognize the importance of building meaningful relationships with each of our students; thus, we embrace social and emotional learning as much as we do curriculum.
Since all students need four English credits to graduate, the teachers in the ELA department are able to build, year by year, the 21st century skills of collaboration and team work, creativity and imagination, and critical thinking and problem solving that students need to succeed in an ever changing world. We strive to create global citizens who care for their ‘ohana, their ‘aina, and themselves.
We encourage you to familiarize yourself with your child's teacher's syllabus by clicking on their page and to reach out with any questions or concerns you may have. The Konawaena High English Department is honored to serve the students of Kona and to be part of such an amazing community. We look forward to seeing you at parent night and at other important events throughout the school year.
