Steve Partin is a familiar face to the Knox Central High School family. Prior to serving as principal at Flat Lick Elementary before moving into the assistant principal position this year, Mr. Partin was a 9th-11th grade social studies teacher at the school.
While he is new to the Knox Central leadership team, as principal he has had many memorable experiences during his time at Flat Lick. From academic team and athletic team championships, to his most memorable moment, Flat Lick being recognized as Knox County's first Distinguished School.
This year, Mr. Partin has set out his own goal and work to achieve.
"My #1 goal for this school year is to familiarize myself with changes at the high school level since leaving some 13 years ago. This entails various thing from accountability, college and career readiness, and curriculum."
Whether it was elementary students at Flat Lick, or now high school students at Knox Central, the most enjoyable parts of being a principal are the same.
"Being a small part of a young person’s life gives me much enjoyment. It’s a good feeling to be able to look down the road after several years have passed and see multiple success stories."
Some of those success stories may be students following in their principal's footsteps and entering the world of education. Mr. Partin has advice for them:
"Go for it! We need more and more of our young people to step up and continue the positive influence of a good education for our future generations in Knox County."
For those in education and looking for opportunities to grow, "the biggest advice would be surround yourself with leaders. Rise others up to meet the goals within the school. You can move mountains by bringing folks together for a common goal."
What does Mr. Partin enjoy doing when not leading or cheering on Panther Nation? "Spending time with family and friends, golfing, riding ATV’s, tailgating, and cooking."
