Scott Prewitt

Lynn Camp Schools Assistant Principal

In his eighth year as an assistant principal at Lynn Camp Schools, Mr. Prewitt can be seen throughout the building during the day, night, and weekend participating in a variety of Wildcat activities. His touch can be seen at many events, prom, graduation, as he wants to create an enjoyable experience for students.

"Everyday is different. There isn’t any time to get bored!"

Prior to his leadership role, Mr. Prewitt served as 7th and 8th grade science teacher from 2004-2007 and high school chemistry and physics teacher from 2007-2013.

Throughout his career, he has went after opportunities and set goals. His professional goal for this year? To be more empathetic and compassionate in the midst of a pandemic. We don’t always realize what someone is going through. Very timely with the uncertainty and constant change of COVID-19 and the variety of learning methods that students have.

Speaking of students, Mr. Prewitt has words of encouragement for any student that is looking at education as a major and career. "Education is an incredibly important career. It isn’t glamorous and it will not make you rich, but it is an admirable profession that will allow you to make a difference."

For his own teachers wanting to advance in the profession? "Expand your view. Get out of your classroom and comfort zone to see the big picture."

Mr. Prewitt reflected on his own time as a student and the person who made an important impact on his life. "Mr. Wendell Worley, my AP US History Teacher at South Laurel, was one of the many positive influences I had in my career. He loved history. He made come alive in his classroom with his excitement, and infectious personality."

Away from school and school events, Mr. Prewitt enjoys the outdoors. Hunting, fishing, hiking, etc. Best of all, he especially loves doing all of these things with his family.
