The transition from elementary school to middle school, and from middle school to high school, can be difficult for some students. Part of the mission of Family Resource and Youth Service Centers (FRYSC) is to ensure a successful transition to school.
At Knox County Middle School, helping with that transition is just one of many services provided by coordinator Kris Mills. We asked Kris to share a few words on what being a FRYSC means to him. Here is his response:
Being a FRYSC has been such a blessing that’s allowed me to be a help to many people throughout our community.
I love helping children and families, and this job fits the bill perfectly for me. It gives me the opportunity to help and give back to a school district and community that has given me so much. I just want every child and student to know there are opportunities to be had, and with a little help they can achieve those opportunities because every single person in life needs a little help and a boost to make it through.
I cannot end without thanking my tribe, my co-workers, my friends for the help and love they have shown along the way. I have only been in this a short period of time, but they have taken me in as their own. And for that I am thankful.
