Mr. Frost is starting his fifth year at Knox Central High School. Before KCHS, he was principal at Lay Elementary for 10 years.
What you could call being a well-rounded educator, Mr. Frost has nine years of teaching experience at Lay (seven as math and two as science in the middle grades). He has coached basketball, sponsored an Odyssey of the Mind team, sponsored First Priority, and even served as a substitute bus driver.
With a focus on building leadership within his staff through book studies and providing opportunities for students to develop those same traits, Mr. Frost has set his own professional growth goal of striving to grow in the area of coaching and giving feedback.
Using the various learning frameworks and domains, through walkthroughs, conferencing, and professional learning communities, Mr. Frost wants to see faculty continue to grow. For those who want to grow in the education profession, Mr. Frost advises that they take on new challenges, continue learning, and build relationships.
From his days in the classroom to serving as head principal at KCHS, Mr. Frost has many memories. He shared,
"So many after 15 years... Lay School becoming the first proficient school in Knox County! A collaborative effort with parents, teachers and community to build a new playground at Lay School in less than a years time! Celebrating with the K.C. faculty, staff, & community regaining local control! Celebrating with Panther Nation as many teams and individuals competed at the state level! Being on stage at graduation to hug, or high five each student as the graduate!"
When asked what is one of the most enjoyable parts of being a principal, his answer was short in words but huge in action, "being able to help others."
