Mr. Jordan has been principal at Girdler Elementary for the past four years.
A personal highlight of the job is having his daughter attend school there, where he gets to watch her grow up.
Prior to becoming principal, Mr. Jordan taught social studies for ten years at Knox County Middle School in both seventh and eighth grades. Before KCMS, he started at Dewitt Elementary where he taught three years in grades 5 and 6 reading and social studies.
While he enjoys going into classrooms and seeing students in the hallways, there are two special times of the day that he enjoys most as a principal.
"Morning arrival, evening dismissal. I get the chance to talk to all students and tell them hello or good-bye."
If one of those conversations turns into being a teacher, Mr. Jordan has advice for his students. "Go for it! Education is one of the most rewarding professions you could choose."
He echoes similar advice when asked by teachers and staff members whether they should look at advancing in education. "Take advantage of all opportunities to learn and grow professionally."
Mr. Jordan says that he has been blessed to have had great teachers/ principals from an early age, "too many to name just one."
When he is not at school, he enjoys building things, rabbit hunting, riding horses, raising a garden, and going to church.
